quote wall 05

this is one of my favorite quotes. i tracked it down while preparing for a talk i'm planning to give in church this sunday. i originally read it in 2005, the month we were deciding to move to california for dan to begin law school. he was receiving letters from law schools across the country and we began wondering where our lives would lead. i remember doubting if i could leave home and be a brave little soldier in the big wide world. reading this quote made me feel stronger.

earlier this week, my brother was biking to work in the morning and was badly hurt in a hit and run accident. i was distraught hearing the news about him. he is so important to me. as is his darling (and expecting) wife, anna. fortunately he is doing well and will be strong once again. his condition is improving daily. i am amazed at his stamina, strength and spirit. when bad news arrives, my world suddenly seems to tumble down. time stops and my heart does too, this is the moment i remember, once again, what really truly is important in life.

  1. Sorry to hear the news of your brother. I am sure he will not let his fall keep him down too long. I too always find peace in that scripture. It was used several times in conference this April. I wanted to give you a link but I can't ever find the talks I want. Just check out your May Ensign Conference Issue. Life is good, and God is the reason. Thank you for inspiring so many of our lives.

I'm so sorry to hear about Pete's accident, Marta--but glad that he's going to be OK. Life can be so frightening sometimes. It's so important to have comforting words to cling to in times of uncertainty, for they will help get us through.

  24. Marta,
So good to hear that your brother is okay is improving. Praise God! I really like the quote that you posted here. I have been having a few doubts lately about life things, but not neccesarily doubting the Lord. This was just what I needed this week to remind me that I need to cast out the doubt.
