I'm newly married of just three weeks today, and we've moved from away our home town for the summer. I was craving my mom's roast and potatoes that she makes every Sunday so that our new home would feel like my parent's house, so I made it this past Sunday. I love how certain smells just remind me of my parent's house, bringing all the laughter and smiling faces of my family with it.

My fave food is my granny's chocolte cake. She made her own frosting and it was to die for. I can't replicate though, I think she used a secret ingredient but I still try :) Have a great Friday!!

I adore food, it's my hobby, my business, my life. I'm currently jonesing for a good falafel sandwich (it's hard to say what my favorite food is) or a fish picatta. I would love this piece to add to my cookbook shelf =)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite food cannot be made singular since 98% of the meals made at my friend's hands is the best thing ever tasted on the palate of the human experience. It's some Old World as we mosey through the grocery store aisles, selecting the wine, then struggling down the stairs with the bags. I put things away for her while she selects tonight's ingredients. Then she performs some sort of hidden magic in plain sight as I sit at the table and ramble nothing sentences. And once her spell has been cast into completion she fills the plates, I the cups, and together we sit down. It's not a food but experience that I treasure most.

ReplyDeletePesto... I love that it can be modified in many different ways and incorporated into almost any dish. However, the absolute best is freshly made basil pesto with linguini. Why it has to be linguini I don't really know, but for me, it is the best tasting pasta shape to pair with pesto!

I love onions sauteed in olive oil and butter, then add brown sugar and spicy brown mustard....I top them on a burger or a steak. Yummy! (I got the recipe from Rachel Ray btw)

ReplyDeletethis might sound weird but my favorite food is popcorn. air-popped, drizzled with real butter, hit with a dash of salt, and then grate some parmesan on top.
when i was growing up every sunday night was popcorn for dinner. my twin sister and i would sit on the kitchen floor and share our huge wooden bowl. we loved it so much we had rules about how many kernels you could eat at a time, and the other one had to stop when one girl had to get up for something.
Love it! My favorite food right now is Lefty's pizza in my neighborhood in San Diego!

i love the cookbook! letterpress makes everything look elegant and there's something about the texture that i love.
ReplyDeletemy favorite food (among many) is a salad that my mom makes-i think it's called roasted red pepper salad. she actually roasts the peppers on a burner to make a dressing and then the salad has ham slices, black-eyed peas and if i remember right, arugula and various spinaches. it's funny that it's my favorite because i'm a REALLY picky eater but it's divine and impossible to resist.
Well, my favorite food is one I don't have to cook! It seems like everything is more delicious when someone else cooks it for me! I LOVE the idea of making my own cookbook. My mother-in-law had one similar and since her sudden passing, it has become a family treasure. Love your blog!

ReplyDeleteMy absolute favorite food would have to be spaghetti. I'm usually good at not over-eating, but spaghetti is the one food that I will consume until the verge of becoming physically ill. My ex-boyfriend's best friend's grandmother was a tiny little japanese woman who made the best spaghetti sauce I have ever tasted -- her sauce was almost more of a 'spaghetti soup.' There was something in it, though, that made that sauce the most delicious and magical thing I have ever tasted, and to this day that ingredient remains a mystery.
