swap savvy

i am getting excited for the Free People travel swap. i practically forgot i signed up! it's a brilliant theme and i'm thrilled to get to know a new swap partner. i've been dreaming up vacation type items to send to her.

a few of you have contacted me {thanks, i love mail} and asked me about how i find out about bloggy swaps. unfortunately i am no expert on finding them. i simply fall into them. i love participating in swaps, which is why i hosted one awhile back. they are a great way to spread the love, meet new people and join a group of people with similar interests. it is fun to see the variety of items from people all across the globe.

for those of you who want to get swap happy, my advice would be..
01. if you've heard of a blog who hosted a swap, keep tabs on it {via bloglines}. most likely they will be hosting another swap in the near future. here are a few favorites: Free People, Shim + Sons, Beautiful Use.

02. join up with Flickr. there are millions of groups, simply type in the word swap and meet your new friends. you'll find everything from handmade bag swaps to material 'fat quarters' swaps to scrap supply swaps to matchbook swaps to Japanese toy swaps. it's intriguing to read the group names and discover what people are swapping country to country. {i promise you'll find a group perfect for your swapping style.}

03. if you read about a fellow blogger hosting or participating in a swap, speak up and try to get involved before the sign-up deadline! any host would love the advertisement, so if you're doing a swap, please spread the word.

do you know about a current, open enrollment swap? do you have a good way to track down blog swaps? do tell...

Laura just posted about a couple. You can read about them by posting this into your address bar: http://lauracrow.typepad.com/my_weblog/2007/05/two_things.html

I think the 5x7 Art Swap sounds super fun. And check out her beautiful beautiful earrings while you're there.
