camping essentials

a sturdy & festive teapot for cocoa • a trusty thermal hoodie • a backpack loaded with bcdc gear • a smile on your face • chaco flips on your feet • a bandanna on your head • an arm around your shoulder • happiness in your heart

the ultimate coleman lantern • traditional family trail mix • a bag full of shelled peanuts • a ripe, juicy watermelon • plenty o' pork products • a blazing campfire for cooking tinfoil dinners, roasting marshmallows, heated debates, spooky stories & singing songs.

a favorite, reliable, comfortable camp chair which has seen years of use • a dutch oven for peach cobbler, apple cherry crisps & german pancakes.

little hands • curious minds • s'mores to smush • bugs to catch

our annual 4th of july campout came early this year (which is a good thing since dan and i could hardly wait for all the extreme family wilderness fun)!

am wishing everyone a happy & safe Independence Day filled with fireworks & family. if you are a local, there are loads of celebrations (in all counties), including an old fashioned fourth, a party at both the capitol hill & sugar house park.

for a little holiday love, i have compiled our favorite campfire tinfoil dinner recipes. enjoy!

Thanks for the recipes! I'm still hoping to plan a camping trip this summer and your post was quite an encouragement to get planning.

Is that the same camp chair that made it to many girls' camps and we all fought to sit in it?

isn't camping so much fun. especially with kids. we have another short trip planned for Bryce Canyon at the end of the month so Tom can run a half-marathon. we've decided to camp in a teepee for this trip though. i'll have to try your recipes out.

This looks like a Dan Dansie dream. Dan is the person I know that loves camping the most which makes him so fun to camp with. Now he has the perfect camping companion, complete with gourmet trail mix and all!
