I have some boxes just like those! I plan on gooping them all up in Mod Podge and paper/fabric as storage boxes. A ribbon box is also a good idea (drill holes for the ribbon to come out of). But I love the idea of using them as shelves too! I think you're plenty clever enough to come up with something, with or without us. :)
they'd make nice flower boxes. line them with plastic and put some dirt in them. the sectioned box would work well for starting some vegetables.
Stack them on top of your fridge or kitchen cabinets so the cutest sides show, and stash stuff like flashlights, matches, bottled water, etc. a little emergency kit.
Aaaaah, de belles caisses de Champagne!
Refill them with Cahmpagne and Merlot and enjoy them through the summer.
wow.. these ideas are lovely. keep 'em coming. honestly i think the little garden flower box would be gorgeous. now if only i had a green thumb!!!
Mart, my first thought was DEFINATLY a garden! Cactus, some flowers, it would be so perfect! Or you could put them next to your cozy couch, stack some blankets in them. Or, grow herbs! You can do it! Or maybe to hold magazines... Oh the possiblities are endless. :)
i love that dad gave you wine boxes...he gave me an old cigar box in fourth grade to take to school and store my pencils! I didn't appreciate it's cachet at the time...I just wanted a "Mork and Mindy" pencilbox like everybody else...now he knows who to give the cool stuff!

ps. i adore your blog!
I think it would be super cute to plant some flowers or vines in those...
Hi Marta,
your can store youre wine glasses in them. If you (or somebody you know) are a bit handy: you can hang them on the wall after you fixed these "pins" to the boxes on which you can hang your glasses upside down like this: http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=15576&catalogId=10103&storeId=5&productId=76647&langId=-3&categoryId=16065&chosenPartNumber=20087163
(No, I don't work for IKEA;))
Plants are easier of course ;)
Hi Marta,
Hope I'm not too late to offer a suggestion. I just took my kids to a museum that was showing the work of Joseph Cornell, who did the most amazing collages and boxes. With your eye for collaging, it would be a beautiful fit for your boxes.
See http://www.pem.org/cornell/# for examples.
If not, I love the flower box idea..how about herbs for the kitchen?
Hey, I know this blog is a bit old, so you're probably not looking for ideas any more, but just in case, I saw this project and thought of you:

I hope you let us see your finished project, whatever it is!
Flower garden? vegetable garden? herb garden?
