getting down to business

wow. i'm oh so happy. thank you for your kind feedback. i feel astonished that many of you say you'll print out that last post to keep for further inspiration. what a glorious compliment. my every dream come true. that i could say something that might stir someone towards a postitive light. wow. merci.

it's a little frightening writing a post after one that was [seemingly] received so well. this is just proof once again that when my fingers are tapping this keyboard and my mind is spilling freely and my heart says go, i should go ahead and do it. somedays fear gets the best of me. it's a new [or old] or rather, renewed goal for me to be bold + courageous. living out loud is the only way.

so today i am running all over the place. have two major deadlines today which i'm wrapping up and delivering. a favorite thing for me. with high hopes for happy clients. am also wearing actual shoes and socks for the first time in like, forever. am very aware of all the cozy support my feet are feeling. it is officially fall. i saw the first glimpses of the gorgeous turn of seasonal leaves and am excited to photograph them soon. also i wonder if it's emery's birthday. it is either today or yesterday, perhaps. am wishing i knew where he is. if he finished high school. if he still loves counting crows and if he is writing poetry still. am wishing i had a SEARCH bar for both my past and long lost friends. it would come in handy. i would search back to ninth grade year to remember his birthday because it would surely be scrawled somewhere in my five-star notebook and then i could search out his address to send him a surprise birthday note.

deadlines are the best days. they are the type of days [if all goes well] that you get to drop everything else and run to ikea for an afternoon. i am looking forward to my dollar ice cream cone.

hi marta... there might be a way to search for your past and old friends. have you signed up for facebook? i usually shy away from online social networking sites but have found family and old friends from all over the world on it. just sign up for it and search away. you just might be pleasantly surprised :)

Same thing with linkedin! I was sort of anti-signing up when I got the invite from a friend, but now am so glad that I did as I have found and reconnected with several old friends over the past few months (in fact, I had a surprise voicemail this morning and it made my whole day!)

Speaking of the first day of fall, I have a funny (but true) story about Marta. Her birthday is near the end of September (that's not the funny part). A few years ago she really wanted a fluffy Patagonia jacket that looks like it's made of sheepskin. When I gave it to her on her birthday, she was so excited she vowed to wear it that very day. You see, she wanted to establish that she had her's before anyone else in the event those jackets became really popular. (A concept which I now recognize as being akin to establishing priority of use in a trademark dispute.) Anyway, that September day was about 85 degrees, not necessarily the kind of weather that calls for a warm fleece jacket. Nevertheless, trooper that she is, Marta persevered through a long, hot September day in all of her wooly glory.
