dear diary

photo taken in pennsylvania. at the flea market. this was right after i purchased a little gem of a book {for a buck} which i'll introduce later. because i'm in love with it. it will steal your heart too.

this week,

i love the smell of: the autumn air. you're right, it is different, dan.

i love the sound of: michael buble. imogen heap. cutiepie cowgirl giggles behind the door, hoping for a treat.

i love the taste of: my sugar high from tasty sweets in shiny wrappers.

i love the sight of: a flappy sign in the breeze catching my attention (fate, i know) telling me ira is coming to town. i repeat mr. ira glass is coming to town. six years ago i saw him live and am still talking about it. this time i get to take dan for my date. don't you just love introducing someone to something that you love so much your heart hurts with happiness!? ira's voice (and whole self) is so, so good. especially in person.

i love the feel of: finishing deadlines. designing blogs/etsy stuff for pals. dan's cleaning of the kitchen, immaculately. this kind of cleaning must happen after a wee crisis of accidental breaking of dishes. {how do you get over the heartbreak when your beautiful dishes break? it's just something you must get over. you have to move on, or you'll be too sad. this must be practice for bigger things in life. i lead a charmed life if all i have to feel heartbroken over is a favorite dish. i feel blessed with all the material things i own and love. and when they break i am sad but again realize; things are not the important part of life. perhaps this breaking dishes streak actually did teach me something.} having a whole new month for whole new goals. holding abby's little one, jake. having a little, tiny person with a head full of soft, cocoa colored hair lying in your arms is pretty amazing. see. now, those are the important things in life.

i am thankful for: life and it's bigness. and it's smallness. and all the inbetween moments. they are the little breaths i take and realize what it's all about. like yesterday when i did not necessarily have a good attitude about facing a big bold project ahead of me. sometimes they are too much to handle. i drove to work and sang christmas songs really loudly. (am embracing the fact that they are playing christmas carols the first day of november.) i turn a corner and suddenly see the city and county building standing tall against the morning sky. from my view, i couldn't see much else than the tall peak of that favorite building and clouds scattering below the clock's face. rise. above it. this was my little inbetween moment that said, keep going. stand up. stand tall. meet your challenges. today. keep going. be among the clouds. it was a good day from then on out.

happy weekend. thanks for all of the fabulous comments lately. only wish my delightful glee could show.

xo. will be whispering good lucks into my sleeve all day for you.

Personally, I think that Thanksgiving and Christmas fit so nicely together and I'm ready to belt out a few carols myself. Great post!

Oh I love Michael (I say it like I know him personally) I got to meet him by chance before one of his concerts when he was still pretty unknown. He is super gorgeous and so nice.

it is a special time of year, indeed!
i, too, enjoy this american life and to see him live would be a treat. i agree, taking someone else to share in something you really love is cool.
it is about the moments, not the *stuff* as you said. maybe it was a gentle reminder?
there is something difeerent in the air . . . the smell, the feel.
i *love* dear diary entries; always pleasant and grateful.
xo

i love how honest you are -- you are so right -- it is the in between times it is hardest to learn to live in/with.

Drat blogger just ate my last comment...

Cueing up an episode of "This American Life" and grabbing a cup of coffee is one of my favorite ways to spend a Sunday afternoon. Ira Glass is the best!

And I have to say, visiting your blog is always like a breath of fresh air. After reading, I leave a little more inspired than before.
