my weekend recap
this weekend was the kind i dream about.
restoring and energetic. restful but fun. unscheduled yet productive.
friday night i had dinner with the folks sans the husband. dining like this brings me back to childhood. being the youngest of seven, having my parents all to myself is a treat. cat's outta the bag, i like getting attention. and my parents are the perfect givers. wienerschnitzel + fondue.
rear window + long chats into the wee hours of the morning with mom. ideas + dreams.
getting up in time to do lunch with the girls on a whim. tuna melts on rye + coconut cream pie.
loved a bit of a personal yoga lesson from miss {certified} whit. she is so graceful. and watching her while i was doing my moves made me feel graceful too. perhaps this is the plus side of not having a giant mirror to reflect how non-flexible i am or how silly it may look to 'find my breath'. am thinking we should host a li'l yoga flow workshop someday to get all the girls i know yogafied. wouldn't that be fun. especially if i had a big mansion to host it in. and then we could soak in my non-exsistent mineral hot springs while enjoying iced cucumber water and fresh avocado cream cheese rolls. for now, warrior poses + bottles of water.
getting errands in. i love doing errands in the sunshine. my work week usually doesn't allow such luxuries. so when i get a saturday to drive around on roads with bending branches which create scenic autumn tunnels, i feel like i'm in a commercial. kind of. except that i'm wearing a hat, the t-shirt of my dreams (it came from old navy of all places), minimal makeup, favorite four year old j crew jeans and a zip up hoodie. my keys spill out of my back pocket as i run to and fro my favorite stops. the commercial girl is wearing cashmere and tweed with a coach purse in tow. but i don't think her errand company is as sweet. she isn't laughing as much as i am. whit and i run to buy ribbon and oooh + awww until our choices have filled our basket. we take back the videos. {which are actually dvd's, but 'take back the videos' is a phrase from my youth and 'taking back the dvd's' has no ring to it. so i'll continue saying videos until i have a teenager who tries to change my ways.} we run to the bookshop to buy mags + steamed milk. we almost get in an accident and then {thankfully} laugh it off and file it away into our memory banks. we chat over left over halloween candy and say goodbyes. though it is never truly goodbye. she texts me and i text back. to breathe last goodbyes. comfort + friendship.
i get down to business and craft my heart out, giving myself a two hour crunch time. i finish wrapping up orders and count the hours until i get to pick him up from the airport. i love a good airport scene. even if it's only been 24 hours apart. x's + o's
hug and chat. load luggage, drive and chat. fill each other in on the details. some matter, some don't. some are funny, some are serious. it's good to have someone to tell your world to. and the rest is history. it's good to experience bliss in so many different forms in one weekend. cheers. hoping you had a happy one too.

Can I step into your shoes for a weekend? Mine isn't nearly as poetic sounding. I like yours better.
So cute! What a great weekend!
I just *love* the way your words flow. I didn't want the recap to end. It was just so yummy and happy.
I could relate to your errand running. It's nice to find the goodness in the unexpected.
Oh yeah, youngest of seven...wow! I feel the same with my parents. I love time with them and my mom always says it doesn't matter how old or grown up I am, I will always be her baby! I don't mind at all.
xo
I love that post. Oh and you reminded me I have to take the video's back, isn't it funny I couldn't say dvd's either, it's just not the same!
this is wonderful marta.
How fun to spend time with the parents all to yourself. Perfect.
so eloquently put. i love days where everything feels "right", like you can do anything. the sun is shining, there's a spring in your step ..... sounds like your weekend was just that.
Marta, I love the way you write! What a great weekend... You took me back, making me long for a weekend of fun like that.
wish i had been there! sounds so fun...hope all went well on Dan's end too!
my weekend was fun because it involved my husband and talking, too. but not crafting...that would NOT have made my weekend fun. that's why people like us buy stuff from people like you.
I remember back about 25 years when I had to stay up all night with my baby. It's lots more fun now.
