dan goes backcountry

dan went backcountry skiing with the boys this weekend. whenever he and the boys get together, i call it boystown because it's completely and entirely boy stuff (and i don't feel the least bit left out). on the other hand, he calls it training. i guess it's both. i imagine they talk about the latest model of ski bindings, mammoth burritos, cool guns, new gear, the civil war, random stuff and i'm completely fine with it.

though i do wish i could see dan in his element a bit more often. the backcountry is way too dangerous for my liking. so i either have to figure out how to fit inside his pocket or rely on his bros to take good photos. luckily dustin captured it (and even blogged it) for those of us who don't often witness the fast fury of these mountaineers. the powderkeg ski race is coming up in march up at the alta ski resort for those of you who are tough, rough and completely nuts. i'll be there with the cocoa and the quilts.

Dan mostly talks about bacon and bacon accessories in the backcountry.

looks like fun. tom and i made it to the backcountry as well. our backcountry is a little tamer, though (meaning our slopes were mounds compared to their mountains) but fun nonetheless. We'll have to get tom up north for some boy time though.

Marta, of course you can use my photos. But I must come clean on this one, while this photo of Dan was taken with my camera - it was Jer that took the shot. I do have some other shots from that day if you want them. Just let me know.

oh marta, I feel you on so many ways. dlb snowboards, and apparently, snowboards very well. his brothers state that he's "reaaally good". he does tricks and flips and I don't get to see any of it. except through photos.

{unlike you, I haven't mastered the art of remaining upright on the snow. I fell a zillion times while trying to board this Christmas}
