a bite of sweet life.
my parents play a big part in my life. and i am forever grateful for their influence on me. we are the best of friends. and not in a cliche, overwhelming, clobbering way. it's hard to describe.. i still worship them in some ways, but at other moments i feel like they are on my level. they get me. which is what friends are for. last night they took us out to celebrate dan's big 33 at a local delicious seafood restaurant. as my dad ordered a handful of desserts, (so we can taste them all, of course) i smiled. because they've always done that. and i love it. it is where my sweet tooth originated. they are believers in tasting and enjoying and not necessarily feeling an obligation to clean the plate. as we chatted and i stabbed a fork into each delectable luscious slice of cheesecake, midnight chocolate cake, and raspberry almond torte, i found myself wondering what flavors of life i will pass on to my own children some day. i should start a list.
p.s. thank you for the unbelievably wonderful moving advice. i love soliciting blogger advice, i have so much to learn.

as always, so beautifully written.
you are going to be an amazing mother and you will love 'delicious flavors of life' to your own children!
that is beautiful marta. i love people who order dessert. it's such a rare quality.
sounds like a perfect evening!
You are on OUR level!
I feel EXACTLY the same way about my parents - they are my confidants, best friends etc etc. And we always order at least one dessert to try! Good luck with your move preparations- I moved 2000 miles from home a little over four years ago and even though I miss the people & the places I take comfort in knowing that there are phones and planes and cameras to keep things flowing back and forth. CO now feels like 'home' and I'm always eager to get back here though I love spending time back at my childhood home.
your parents so great. super great. so does your idea for a list.
So, which dessert was your favorite? :0)
What is interesting about having children is that they introduce unique flavors of their own. :0)
What a great way to enjoy sweets. Dfinitely will try that one in future. Sounds devine.
Yes! We do have the BEST parents alive...they live life so fully. I think they love you the most...since you are their baby girl. They are gonna MISS you guys!!
I remember my parents doing that and still doing it today. I know for sure I am passing my sweet tooth on to both my boys!
Profound and lovely post, as usual. My family is also huge on dessert. It's certainly one of the utmost delights in life!
