come take a peek
here is a peek at our nursery. it's coming together, thanks to so many darling gifts and hand-me-downs. when you get married you cannot believe all the nice things people give you, people you hardly even know are completely generous and loving. and (thankfully) it starts all over again when you are expecting a li'l one. it's as though everyone knows something you don't. it's a huge celebration; i am finally joining the club.
i have loved unearthing treasures from my hope chest which i've waited to use until i had a wee one. it's all these feelings of reminiscence. thinking of my grandma, my parents and my own childhood memories. it's a happy feeling of looking back and simultaneously looking forward. an appreciation for the little things in life. and big hopes for this little babe.
my favorite thing is that dan insisted that the pottery barn circus bumper pad should face inwards, so the babe can enjoy the colorful animals for himself, while falling asleep. now how could i resist a statement like that? it's a charming new thing in life, for your manly man to talk about babies. it's irresistible.
and now i have a new favorite room in the house. the sunlight sparkles in at around 3 pm and hangs around til dusk. i like to stay in here, lounge around and read. it's peaceful and sweet and everything is brand new. and there are no dishes staring back at me in this room.
only 38 days.

I'm tearing up at this. Send help immediately, I officially have the bug.
What a fabulous nursery. When I was pregnant with my first, we had just moved to a new house (and new city) about two months before he was due. I got his nursery done and would go in there and rock in the chair. It was the first time in 7 years I didn't have a full time job. I relaxed in that room. I read in that room. I knew the quiet wouldn't last for long. Enjoy this special time.
awww, i love it! it's looking beautiful. man, i'm thinking this third child o' mine is getting the shaft. my first got nesting to the nth degree. the second at least got some. this one will get a crib in the office until he's big enough to move in with his big bro. the first is really so exciting!
My very favorite thing about that nursery is how well the scary, yet adorable, monster fits into the decor. Well done! :)
It is a beautiful nursery!! First babies are so fun!
So sweet! I love it.
so excited for you.
xo
loving the simplicity.
enjoy these 38 days...you will remember them forever.
Wow. It really is a beautiful room! I'm excited for you to put it to good use! Fun!
That is such a cute nursery. And I'm so impressed that you got it done with time to spare. I think I put the sheets on the crib just before I ran out the door for the hospital!
Congratulations at this wonderful time in your life!
precious
marta, what a beautiful place you've made to bring your baby home to. I'm so excited for you...
you're going to fall in love with your husband all over again when you see him with your little one :)
Congratulations :)
What a welcome this little guy is going to get. Isn't it amazing the even though there have been a gazillion babies born in the world over all the centuries, this is your first time, and your baby's first time, so this is the first in your world. I love the whole concept that we each get to experience the world for the first time. It's awesome that you are making it so perfect for him.
What a cute room! Love the checkered Vans!
Lovely! I especially love the Peter Rabbit mug! The baby is sure to love and enjoy their new room!
Love the bunting!
i love the colorful bunting! the lil boy will never want to leave his room :)
it is delightful.
i am so thrilled for you.
thinking of you, my friend!
it is SO cute. you and dan are my favorite couple. seriously. why. love the new room and can't wait to see it's new occupant!!
awwwww beautiful! i'm so excited to see this little guy!! but i'm guessing you probably are, too :)
what a cute nursery. it is perfect.
I can't believe he is almost here. So excited for you.
The nursery is very cute and cozy! That's a great idea to enjoy the room before he arrives. I had thought nurseries were to be set up and then wait to be lived in until the baby got there but it seems much homier to enjoy the room before too.
Only 38 days!? He's gonna be here before you know it! Cute room, looks so cozy
It's so funny how some people's asthetic just appeals--I loved these pics, and then realized why: I had that peter rabit cup growing up... and the crib quilt/bumper is the one I used on my son's crib!
so cute Marta - you're getting so close!!! :)
