you made my day.

what is better than knowing someone else is thinking about you? and not just having nice intentions, but taking an effort to wrap something up and send it your way, via the postman.

this is why a blogger swap is so fun. yesterday i put together my package for my cousin kelly's favorite things swap. i had so much fun gathering favorite items, packing them up and hoping they will put a smile on a stranger's face. (i wish i could do this for all the bloggers i love to read.) i ran to the post office, stood in line and sent it off. it feels good to give.

after my errands and binge at the library (i like to pretend that i'm going to barnes and noble, and i get to bring home any book that looks remotely interesting to me. i just charge it on my card aka library card. the only problem is walking back to my car with my huge stack of wobbling books and dvds, i realize i must look like a funny li'l lady), i came home and on my very own counter was a package from my sister-in-law, ariane.

i was giddy with delight. a package for me? and for no apparent reason? she could have packaged up her son's smashed Twinkie and i would've jumped up and down. but you see, ariane is much classier than that. she gift wrapped each item and put a li'l note with each gift. it was like christmas morning! you see, ariane is a lawyer, a mother and a full time sweet and thoughtful person. she knows how it feels to move to a new place, she knows what a crazy hectic thing it is to study for the Bar Exam and she also knows what pregnancy is like. ariane created the perfect package for the mama to be whose husband is a bit busy these days, to put it lightly. i want to grow up and be like her. to actually follow through with good intentions, hoping to spread a bit of sunshine around, is a mighty fine thing to do for someone.

thanks to you ariane. i love all the li'l sweet things. (dan ripped into the red vines before i could even take the photo) and i will be enjoying my chick flicks tonight. like you say, dan won't be sad he missed them. you definitely won the you made my day award. xo.

What a fun package to get! Getting the mail is filled with hope because just every once in a while there's a surprise that makes our day. I got a cute mini card yesterday and I saved it until all the bills were opened, as a little reward!
