me at the dmv.

such cute passport pouches, available via etsy.
methinks this is a non-essential item i definitely need.

two days ago, during a fabulous trip to target, (i roamed the aisles dreaming about decorating for dorm life and forgot why i actually went there in the first place) i gathered my goods and paid my pretty penny. then suddenly i realized that i've been driving without a license for who knows how long. lost lost lost. and i, i do not lose things. just great. oh fabulous. way to go, mart. my mind has this great sarcastic voice it uses when in situations like this. so my beloved utah license is nowhere to be found. immediately i think, how am i going to have a baby without a license? well i guess i could be one of those frazzled frantic moms and not bring a purse with me; that could work. but i mean let's get real. first off, that's totally not me. second of all, it's completely absurd and simultaneously refreshing that you don't actually need a drivers license to have a baby at the hospital. you just show up and have it. basically you just need a baby in your belly. but you do need a license to put peanut butter m&m's from the hospital gift shop on your visa. very strange. (p.s. dan that is what i'll be wanting post birth, i'm almost sure of it.)

so with my wacky ways of thinking and my ever efficient self, i determined i had to suck it up and get a new license. and quick. before this babe comes. my thoughts are this when thinking about any daunting task ahead; would this activity be more fun while toting a baby along or should i just get it over with and do it now? now is usually my go to answer. it's a very motivational way of thinking. this is the reason we 9 month pregnant women are waddling all over town gettin' it done. two trips to the dmv later, along with a not so easy breezy written road test, a boatload of paper work, lots of prayers that the boy wouldn't make his debut at the dmv, three demanding women in uniform, and a real cute laminated mug shot of my 9 months pregnant face later, i have an official idaho drivers license. hooray. i can officially check that off my list and check into the hospital with it in hand. although no one will care.

note to those of you who may be waiting in line at your local dmv, reading this on your iphone. first, i pity you. second, i love you for reading my 'column'. third, if your name has changed, you must provide your marriage license too, along with all the other mumbo they make you bring in. word is if you don't have a passport, a dusty old highschool yearbook will suffice. though a current costco card will not. does that make any sense whatsoever?

ha, I am reading this on my iPhone, though not at the DMV but at the Atlanta airport waiting for a connection. Good luck with your upcoming delivery! You must be so excited and anxious. Can't wait to hear what you name the LOL boy! Congrats!

I also walked around for months with an expired license and realized it before I was getting married. I had similar thoughts..."will they let me get married if I don't have a current driver's license?" So glad you checked one more thing off the list. I agree, get as much done now as you can so you can spend your days cuddling and attending the frequent doctor visits that come with newborns.

still have not done an ID license. i've lived here a year! I've heard the written test is tricky. I wanted a chocolate milkshake post-birth. Immediately.

I am de-lurking to tell you how much I love your blog. I found it through Gabi (I used to work with Brad.) Anyway, I hope you don't mind, I posted about the passport holders, too. I don't know how you always find such darling items. Keep up the great work and I'm sending you happy thoughts for a baby this week!

I was reading your blog on my iPhone last week at the DMV! The blogs with tons of photos don't load so well all the time, but yours is a good read while just sitting there.

Happy countdown. I can't wait for news!

Even entries telling the less tastier moments in life such as the DMV are actually tasty! Good luck with your baby! He will open up a whole new book just waiting to be wrote and read!
