sweetly sleeps

one of the very best things about my benji bear is holding him in the crook of my arm and feeling his head get heavy and watching his eyelids droop ever so slightly. this boy doesn't ever want to miss one minute of the party, but i tell him it's okay the party will pause until naptime is over and i sing him a song or two and then another that i make up on the spot. after a few twitching and wiggling, he surrenders to sleep. it is the sweetest thing in the world.

I don't have my own kids so have never experienced this joy with my own baby...however, I volunteer at a Children's Hospital one morning a week and thought I'd died and gone to heaven when a sweet 8 month old fell asleep in my arms. It truly was heavenly.

Thanks for sharing these sweet "Benji moments" with all of us!

ok, i'm not a mommy yet, but - i am an auntie to 9 kids. and a complete baby hog. and that's my favorite thing, too - when they're this little, is holding them as they fall asleep.

i'm loving your experience with a new baby!

Awww, such lovely times.
My youngest never wants to miss a moment of the party, the adoration. She's almost 5 now, she wakes up at the crack of dawn EVERYDAY-of-her-life and never wants to go to bed. I am so tired... and now she's now too big for me to hold and carry : (

I love the name Benji bear.

My favorite is watching my little guy fall asleep and then holding on to him for a little longer than necessary before I finally surrender and put him down. You can never hold them enough.

I can picture you singing baby Jake all kinds of made-up silly songs, back in the day...so it helps me imagine what you're doing with my godchild.

Enjoy!!

I miss that sleepy, sweaty, soft heaviness of a tuckered-out baby! My 4-year-old is now all knees and elbows, too gangly to hold. But of course I still try.
