Too right! Marta I agree entirely - the very best gifts, the gifts you remember and treasure the most aren't the most expensive, aren't the most pretty... but are the ones that come from the heart, the gifts that you know took thought and effort.. the ones that make you smile. Thank you for reminding me!

thank you, marta. you always remind me that the truest things are often the simplest. what is a gift if it isn't given with the whole heart. i'm reminded of helen keller's words, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." and you have such cozy ideas abounding with loveliness. thank you. prayers for you and little benji as you face this flu bug.

You are so creative with your gift ideas! Lovely little presents (esp. like the bubble bath & book and the pasta & spices ideas) that I would never have thought of!

My sister and I wrote down dozens of memories and images from our childhood, folded the slips of paper and put them into a pretty crystal container for my mom's birthday. She has not stepped off her cloud since! It's like it made all of those years tangible and real, something she could hold in her hand. So simple, so easy, such a joy to compile. I think it filled us with as much happiness in doing it as it did in giving it. I plan to add more as part of her Christmas present.
