spring on the short sleeves.

this is my one thousand and thirty-fourth blog post. which seems pretty amazing. have i really had that much to say to the big wide world. oh yes. and much more to come. i feel my best blog posts are born when i'm not blogging at all. when i'm driving on holmes and seventeenth or am singing in the shower or washing the dishes. i recently read that writers begin to form their words into the medium they use most often; poems, prose, novels, articles, etc. i fear my voice has completely formed itself into blog form. which i suppose isn't too shameful or despicable. blogging is something. and if my words want to be in a blog. so be it.

onto the post at hand. i noticed spring today. and not just a subtle spring feeling, but a full-on pow spring feeling. it was utterly fabulous. number one. my landlord was out cleaning the steps. which means he is back from his winter hiatus in arizona. old people flocking back to their real houses, that is a definite sign that frigid season is over. number two. the birdies are chirping. robins are covering the branches, it's a freaking family reunion out there. number three. the river is thawing out. the ice chunks are breaking apart, the water is moving. it looks like a frosty scene from the 1700s. no longer ideas of skating upon it. number four. i wore short sleeves today. all day. number five. i picked dan up for lunch and we drove with the windows down. seriously happy spring sunshine beaming in my windshield.

it was a very good weathered day.
now please tell me it's going to stay this way til may.

Ah, Spring is beautiful. We are entering Autumn down under but there aren't too many signs of it as yet. Summer usually sticks around longer then it is welcome here!

It must stay. I was thinking of making a spring countdown chain today out of colorful paper (maybe tomorrow). daylight savings coming SOON!

can i live vicariously through you?

i read this post yesterday and remembered it this morning as i was scraping the ice off my windshield in the -10 degree morning sunshine, wearing a parka, hat, mitts, and winter boots.

note to self: move further south!

bring it on! I must warn you, it may take awhile to really show it's face and may just be teasing us for the next month or 2. But oh, the fresh air! I opened all my windows in the house yesterday!

the phrase "if my words want to be in a blog, so be it" has been going through my head over & over today.
it's so perfect! that whole first paragraph was really wonderful.

enjoy your short sleeves!

It's still frosty here in Massachusetts, but I've been cracking the windows anyway--feels so good to get some fresh air into these closed-up rooms. Thanks for reminding me spring is on its way...

My favorite part of spring is the smells, sunshine and rolling my windows down. The last couple of days have been glorious--though we're supposed to have snow this weekend. Soon enough, though. Soon enough.

unfortunately spring is a fickle friend... today it snowed and now the sun is shining. I heart the transitions.
