i heart cow country

sunday afternoon we followed a favorite farm road into the hills, only to find that this herd had the same idea. holy cow! the cowgirls made way for our vehicle. we were like 3 city mice touring the open lands of idaho, taking it all in (we now have approximately 213 photos of these cows and their babies). they were mooovin' along their route, slow and steady. we safely passed the herd and drove up the hills to the summit for a beautiful view of idaho.

it was all fresh air and happiness. i didn't know strolling with cattle could be so much fun. we were like little kids on the roller coaster, let's do it again! so down the hill we went with the wind in our hair and the camera out the window. to top it off, we met two cowboys waiting for their happy herd. starstruck, we stopped to say hello. dan said, my wife wants to take a photo of some real cowboys. little did they know they're our new american idols. i think i'm gonna enlarge that photo and put it over our bed.

some days i get homesick for utah. other days i tell dan, it was a seriously good idaho day. i was delighted to share my first mother's day with all the mamas chewing their cud.

What a sweet post! I love cows... I think they're sweet and slow.

And thank you so much for your compliment on my blog the other day--that brightened my day a bunch! Your sincere compliments meant a lot. I love reading your blog--you have the neatest handwriting and such a sweet little family.

Oh! I miss living in the country so much.
We didn't quite have this sort of cow gathering where I used to live, but it just smells so good out there!

That's incredible!

I've had a very similar experience. I went hiking with some friends one the Blue Ridge Parkway, which has a lot of farmland, and as the trail descended into a valley we ran into a small herd of unattended cows. They were pretty cool, but obviously not impressed with us at all, ha ha.

Love that cowboy pic.

you guys are always finding the cows! North or East? My kiddo would have flipped his lid to see those real cowboys, just like on Bonanza.

This was also an exciting day for me when living in Idaho we came across a cow herd and one time a sheep herd. They are more fun and thrilling than you would think!

Wow, I can't believe you see this driving around! It sure beats Atlanta traffic. I could certainly wait for this crowd to pass by. :) Great pics too.
