beauty pageant beets

who knew a plain li’l root could produce such a rich cheeky hue? (whoever discovered lip + cheek stain must've been slicing up a fresh grown beet. i'm sure of it.) am lining them all up for a parade. little miss beauty pageant beet gives cheerful cherry red a run for her money. (and fire engine red? pretty much stuck in last place, sobbing in the corner.)

yay for cracking open a rough exterior and discovering a persona so divine, she can't help but rub off on everyone she meets. an imprint. a beauty mark.

p.s. thank you for all the encouraging comments about my blog drabnessness. you're all so kind. so sweet. i wish i could slice you some cake. or give you a beet and a cutting board. am discovering that my goal of 1 week of just marta originals has slowly started my creative juices churning. exactly what i needed. inspiration is everywhere. inspiration is everyone. this post is all thanks to those beautiful beets.

p.p.s. if i were linking to other websites, i'd direct you here.
am semi-new to hulu. and oh how i love angela chase + co.

Just wanted to say--that little saying about vegetables and cake? Perfect. I want that as a magnet for my fridge or something.

Oh my goodness I've known about Hulu for awhile but just last night I discovered that they had My So-Called Life on there! How perfect.

Gathering up all the resources of friendship and encouragement around us is what life is all about. The imaginings of our mind often paralyze us with fear of being thought "less than" but when we find the courage to open up in honesty and express ourselves, the flow of love and understanding buoys us up and we realize that we are never alone in our plight. Thank you for being willing to open up yourself and give me and so many others the courage to fly with our own wings.

I was reading your post about comparing to other bloggers and it reminded me of a post I wrote not too long ago....
http://amyandjeffmartinez.blogspot.com/2009/07/sing-song.html

I found it odd for someone like you to be thinking something I had thought because you are one of those people I am constantly amazed with... your talent in writing and creating, your family, your adventures.... so many things you do I sit and admire. And I love reading your blog, you are always inspiring to me. I love that you keep your blog fresh, and positive and upbeat. I enjoy the finds you share, but what I love most is the things you offer straight from you and I've been loving this u be u, i'll be me week.

Hi Marta!
I was just admiring your little photographic. I'm assuming the 'tape' is some sort of a brush or stamp in Photoshop? If so care to share your source? I'm in love! :)

Thanks!
Whitney
