thanksgiving in pictures
our little thanksgiving turned out just as laid back and wonderful as i'd hoped it would be. everyone hustling about and tasting and salting and peppering. the day was full of goodness. i hope yours was too. sage was our mascot this thanksgiving, i added it to practically every dish. i cannot get over the scent of fresh sage. like my culinary friend mallory put it, sage is all the rage. for the record, benji loved the olives. and the stuffing too. that's my boy.
the supposed weekend blizzard held off long enough for us to get out and about. we did mighty productive errands and even decorated for christmas on black friday. am looking at my pinecone and hollyberry swag at this very moment and am giddy that it's all said and done. i love appreciating it all december long. thoughts on getting a real tree with a one year old in the house? saturday we went on a short roadtrip to jackson hole, wyoming and did some hiking too. now my parents are visiting for a couple of days. i couldn't have chosen a better pair to share our homemade turkey noodle soup with.
there is much to be thankful for.

your photos are wonderfully sweet, as is that darling red knit cap on your boy. glad he loved the olives, my little dude was a big fan of his entire thanksgiving feast as well in teeny tiny portions. i'm sorry for your friend, what a terrible tragedy for any woman to endure; i'm sure she'll find strength in your friendship and pray she has loving support pouring in from all around.
Benji looks like the happiest little chap alive! Fantastic shots.
Glad to hear you had a great Thanksgiving and would love to see your pinecone and hollyberry swag...
My prayers are sent to your dear friend, what a sad loss.
xx
A live tree with a one year old is possible - try not putting ornaments on the lower branches, or else only ornaments that may be played with on the lower branches.. Or, get a small tree, and put it on a table.
Hil is a wonderful example of faith. She is such a kind, generous and sweet person. Michael is truly blessed to have her as a mother. So grateful for our gospel and the plan of salvation.
Your thanksgiving looks wonderful. What a cute little sleeping guy in your backseat.
looks like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving....full of all that is good; especially your boys! i love seeing your photos...they are always full of such warmth & love!
i'll be thinking about your friend and sending prayers and well wishes their way....
take care marta!

oh marta,
my heart aches for hillary. i know that my sweet cooper has found her precious boy and will watch over him until he is with reunited with his mom.
sending her lots of love, strength and peace.
she is lucky to have you as her friend.

So sad for your friend. So glad your turkey dinner was a success. I think you get blonder every month...and it looks good!
yay for sage! isn't it the loveliest this time of year. I could put a bouquet of it out. we are missing your little family, hopefully Christmas time we can come make a visit or meet up in SLC.

My biggest fear, I am afraid I would not be strong enough...my prayers are with her, and yes she will see that little one again.
Your pictures are beautiful as always.
Just used your cute little stickers for an advent project. Soooooo cute! Now I wish I would have laminated them, but surely you'll have some next year, Right?!
Whenever I see you take a photo of mountains it makes me desperately want to see snow-capped peaks for myself. Maybe I will some day...
sage is all the rage. i'll remember that. tuck it away with the classic 'see-ya ladel.' it never gets old.
and since you asked, i'd get the real tree. and see what happens. [because really you never know...you can guess, but you never really know how those lil' ones will react to what you have in store for them.] for instance, the pine needles might be fun to pick off. or the bulbs might be mistaken for balls. both have happened in our house. but there is nothing like the joy that comes across their faces when they see that tree all lit up.
and i am sorry for your friend. but thankful for faith in something greater, and for your last sentence, as it rings true.
i figure kids will get into trouble with the tree and ornaments ... regardless of if it's real or not.
awesome pics, as usual, marta! your family gets the photogenic award in my book.
so sad for your friend.. i cannot even begin to grasp something so heartbreaking. my thoughts and prayers go out to her.
That last picture is breathtaking...would like to see it featured in a calendar.
Can't even imagine that kind of loss that your friend, Hil, has to endure. My sympathies to her and her family.
its really very fantastic pictures that you share with us. thanks for this.
Love his little nose, what a complete cutie pie. I love that age! Take lots of photos and book a pro session soon if you can!
