My dream Christmas vacation is anywhere with snow. Utah perhaps? I've been in the summer and it's just gorgeous, and I can't imagine how beautiful it must be in the winter.

My dream vacation is jolly old England! I studied there for a semester in college & have been itching to go back ever since. Plus, how fantastic do mincemeat pies & chutney sound at Christmastime?

My dream vacation for Christmas would be somewhere on a warm beach with white sand and crystal blue water sipping margaritas and reading a great book (when not napping.)

Catherine said...

I would absolutely LOVE to spend a Christmas in London (especially considering it's in the 70s here in northern Florida right now).

Julie Linz Photography said...

My dream Christmas Vacation would have to have a little snow and a little sand. I guess I'm just getting a little greedy. Maybe someplace warm like Hawaii to start and then a snowy cabin in Aspen to finish off the vacation! Oh and did I forget to mention that I would have to have all my lovely family with me too! Can't leave them out of this fantasy!

my dream place for christmas is rigth here with the ones i love. well, not right here, but no matter where, as long as i have them around me.

i know it sounds crazy, but provo. since we've moved about 8 months ago, i've missed so much SO MUCH. i'd play in the freezing snow, stare at timp, and eat at all of my favorite places. all of this with our dear friends, of course.

Not to copy, but NYC sounds pretty amazing right now. I haven't been in a couple years and I would love to go back up around the holidays and see all the lights, the windows, the tree at Rockefeller Center.

I never thought about a vacation at Christmas! I would have to say to take my husband and children to Germany to visit my relatives and experience a more peaceful, less commercial, cold and snowy Christmas season like I remember from my childhood.

Camille said...

I think Paris at Christmas time would be very fun. A French Christmas with creches, croissants and Christmas lights.

Cambria said...

I love spending Christmas @ home in Utah! Especially when there's snow, plenty of hot cocoa, and the Christmas Day Parade on!

Francine said...

My dream place for Christmas would be somewhere near mountains. And not just little hills, I mean protruding mountains stretching up to the sky with snow covering the tops. I've never seen that before and have always wanted to.

camillewells said...

My dream Christmas vacation would be to a log cabin in a snowy wooded area with family.

Kiasa said...

I've never had a white Christmas. I'd love a quaint New England, white Christmas vacation. Where I could go snow shoeing and then warm up next to a cozy fire while sipping hot cocoa while I wait for rosy cheeked carolers. Is that a vacation or just a dream? :)

And, Marta, if you want really, really amazing hot chocolate in NYC there's a bunch that far exceed Dean & Deluca. Amen to H&M.

Jaimie said...

My dream Christmas would be anywhere without snow. I have never experienced a winter or a Christmas without snow and I think that that would be pretty neat and weird too.

amber c. said...

My dream Christmas vacation is Paris. My dream everything is Paris. If it snowed a little too, perfect. Drinking some yummy red wine, or a cocoa, eating macarons and other various Parisian pastries, near a fireplace, or in a glowing cafe, with my lover, exchanging little gifts, or just glances, would be the most wonderful thing.

crissy // mama boss said...

Either Costa Rica or California, either one would put me with family. Although, your dream Christmas in New York sounds absolutely delightful, as well.

Nicole said...

In a cabin in the woods, with a roaring fire and my husband.
Or maybe in a big old farmhouse with room for all our family, and a sledding hill outside, a rolicking holiday.

Or an oceanside cabin filled with my friends laughing and playing games.

I guess it's the people, not the places, that really make up these dreams.

I adore Jeffrey's work, thanks for the giveaway!

Kate said...

These are really nice -- my new apartment has some bare walls and a lovely print would look great!

Oh Marta, this would be the more than perfect Christmas gift for me. I love b/w photopraphy and I love NYC especially around Christmas time. I lived close to the City for a year and was there every weekend in December. So for me NYC would be my dream Christmas vacation spot. The lights, the Tree, ice skating in Central Park, Christmas shopping, cupcakes at Magnolia, a ginger bread latte at Starbucks... just perfect.
Thanks for bringing back the memories.

dreaming of christmas...one year when the kids were small: ages 2, 4, & 5 we went to Pagosa Springs, CO the week before Christmas. it was fun and beautiful and snowy and super cold. our first family vacation. I would LOVE to take my kids who are now 9, 11, and 13 back...for an actual christmas celebration. it was small-townish and wonderful...and kinda dreamy. :)
i am sure i can come up with outlandish dream places if i think long enough, but sometimes smaller dreams have a better chance of coming true so i'll dream of that one this time:)

Alba said...

At home. With my family. Which is exactly where I'll be in one week's time! Woop!

Original Kos said...

Hmm, I live in New York City, so it would have to be to a small cozy cottage in Heber, Utah, where I would cuddle up with my husband, surrounded by my family, and open lots of presents and drink lots of hot chocolate.

C.L. Davis said...

To match that beautiful picture, I would have to say for myself and my daughter, we would LOVE to go to New York City during the holidays to see all the sights and lights (and she likes the colder weather, too!).

rachel said...

My dream vacation is Prince Edward Island. LOVE IT!

Rae said...

Wow! My dream place for Christmas? I suppose that would be a condo at a ski resort with my entire family together in front of a roaring fire and a ginormous Christmas tree. Christmas in NYC is wonderful too. I'm close enough to the city to make that dream a reality!

Betsy said...

I'm stuck in Missouri, so how about Costa Rica?

Jamie said...

I have simple dreams - my hometown is always where I want to be for Christmas.

somewhere in the deep woods, in a log cabin, with my most favorite people. add a fire and some hot chocolate and I'm set. oh and don't forget the snow.

I don't think I could be anywhere but back home in Minnesota for Christmas, and actually enjoy it. I'd feel like I'm missing out on family time. So, my dream Christmas vacation would have to be Minnesota. And I'll be there in a week!

Ms Antoville said...

My dream xmas vaca is to go to aspen, or vail. and stay in one of those mansions on the slopes. And make fires, roast marshmallows, drink hot cocoa, wear sweatpants and ski! And be with my family and friends. And play charades!

Hil said...

I'd like to say Hawaii because ever since the hubs and I went this last July I haven't been able to stop dreaming about it. However, for Christmas... it's definitely at my parents house. All of the traditions from my childhood are still kept and it just feels so warm and cozy. So much nostalgia.

Miranda said...

These are absolutely gorgeous! I often say that my perfect Christmas would just be spent at home...because I love home. But that New York Christmas you just described sounds pretty fantastic...

My dream location for Christmas would be either New York of Paris. Both big cities with beautiful sites. The only problem would be that my husband and I don't have family in either and that is a must.

Marci said...

I have always wanted to spend a Christmas in New York City. Ice skating and seeing the tree in Rockefeller center. Frozen hot chocolate at Serendpity. Browsing Macy's and then shopping at stores I can afford. Catching a broadway show. A girl can dream.

Puddle Stomper said...

Easy peasy! It'd have to be New York City. The hustle and bustle of people passing every which way, the smell of chestnuts roasting from the corner vendor, the glimmer of storefront windows. New York City is always magical, but during Christmas it's beyond whimsical.

H Yoho said...

hmm, a french Christmas sounds exciting...so does an italian one. I wouldn't turn down any euroupean vacation for that matter.

god, I'd kill for a Christmas in NYC. All I want is to see the pretty city all decked out in lights. But this year I can't complain -- I'll be skipping town where we usually have a 70 degree Christmas for Michigan, where I'm hoping for a white Christmas for once.

mj said...

We love jeffrey and his cute, cute family!

I think I'd pick NYC at Christmastime. I went last november to run the NYC marathon...without my hubby. I definitely want to go back so we can experience that together.

My dream Christmas vacation: Spain.

Kim said...

my dream christmas vacation is where hubby and i honeymooned... Banff, Canada... I would love to experience it in the winter with all of the family.

Kari said...

A big cabin in the woods completely snowed in. Secluded enough that I don't see other cars going by, accessible enough that family and friends will happen by to visit and stay in the guest room for the night and enjoy fabulous breakfasts in the mornings. Yes--secluded and accessible. I'm dreaming, too.
(Though, just for the record, my random verification word below here is "mickey" and the first time I've ever had a verification word that was a real word. I'm taking that as a sign that I should start dreaming of the holidays with Disney . . . hmmmm . . . also good.)

claytonandmandy said...

My dream christmas vacation would be simply heading up to the family cabin, surrounded by good company and good food!

Melissa A said...

New York is my dream place for Christmas vacation. I've talking to my husband about it for years. I want to go there when they light up the Christmas tree, and be all bundled up in the cold weather, and ice skate in Rockafeller center and get noticed on the Today show.

Eliza said...

It doesn't matter where as long as I'm with my husband and baby boys.

cara said...

for christmas, i would rather be home with family (and snow)...but just AFTER christmas, my dream vacation would be somewhere warmer! california and texas are places on my list to revisit.

Michelle said...

My dream Christmas is with both my family and husbands family together. We would stay at a cabin. And in the front yard there would be lots of snow to sled, build snowmen and every snow activity children dream of. And than in the backyard we would find a beautiful sunny warm beach where we could lay out and boogie board. Found inside the cabin would be rooms full of holiday activities and a warm smell of holiday baking. That would be my ideal Christmas vacation. When you find it, let me know- I am yet to find a place :)

Chelsea and Rusty said...

My dream Christmas vacation would be in Paris. Walking around with my husband sipping hot chocolate in front of the Eiffel tower and window shopping late at night.

The Schoonmakers said...

I live in North Pole, Alaska...and there is no place I'd rather be at Christmastime! We've got snow, more Christmas lights than we know what to do with, and Santa! The only thing that would make it better is if my family was here with me. (Mom & Dad can't fly in until January.)

Brenna said...

My dream place would be at my own home! It seems like we are always traveling to family's house. I'd like to have everyone at my place watching Christmas movies and sipping hot chocolate. I'd like to wake up on Christmas morning with a full house and lots of gifts. I'd like sitting down to a large Christmas brunch prepared in my own kitchen with love. A girl can dream...

ellen said...

NYC would be my choice too!

my dream christmas would be to live close enough again to our family to have our own private christmas eve and christmas morning by ourselves in our house and still be able to see family lots during christmas week. i am grateful that we get to go home for christmas this year! we're lucky.

a trip? i would love to take my family to Kauai. it's beautiful and peaceful.

yes, please!

I'm not sure where my dream christmas vacation would be. my dream vacations are usually to warm, tropical locales where I can laze away the day on the beach and play in the waves. but no snow on christmas? that's always sad. so I'm not really sure about this one...

Justin + kelly said...

My dream place for christmas vacation is around our own tree as my little family. I love having my boys all to myself and then leaving for somewhere warmer, tahiti perhaps, with the rest of our families.

when I was in 8th grade, we spent Christmas in southern Spain. And right now, I am babysitting my niece and nephews while their parents are in Switzerland. Basically, I'm thinking spending Christmas almost anywhere in Europe sounds pretty fantastic.

Kasi Lee said...

My dream place for Christmas would really be taking all of my family to a warm place--somewhere with perfect 75 degree weather. Then we could all spend the holidays together!

Unknown said...

My dream place for Christmas for my family would be New York. I want to see the Christmas tree and go ice skating at the Rockefeller Center. I've never been to NY and I think Christmas time would be the perfect time to visit the Big Apple.

Trude said...

I love your idea of a dream holiday! And his photography is awesome. Mine would have to be celebrating it in Norway - I was born there, my dad's whole side of the family lives there and although we incorporate as many of the traditions as we can in SoCal, it just isn't the same. Would love to spend Xmas there just once in my lifetime! :)

Anonymous said...

My dream place would be somewhere that it snows and is winter. We live in NZ, so we have a summer Christmas - which is great! But I have always wanted a Christmas like on all the movies, with the snow outside, next to the fire ... *sigh*

kate reymann said...

Paris sounds pretty nice. Does this vacation include a babysitter to wisk away my whiny child?

Dream Christmas vacation: The Dan in Real Life house. With that family. And the talent show. So Fun. (*and maybe leave out the drama)

PS: TOday on "The Story" from NPR (or American Public Radio) Dick Gordon interviewed a Rockette from about 30 years ago. It was great! You should look it up and listen to it. Magic.

Laura said...

My dream place to be for Christmas is at home -- but I would happily accept an *after*-Christmas vacation to Hawaii or Florida. We live somewhere that gets a lot of winter, so an excuse to skip part of it would be great! :-)

Dream Christmas vacation=HAWAII (Kaui, to be exact).
Went there for Christmas with my fam when I was little and to this day it's one of my most memorable Christmases!

Karie said...

my dream vacation would be a nice cozy little log cabin up in the wasatch mountains somewhere. all the family sleeping in one big pile on the floor, and then waking up to a fire in the firelace and presents from santa. then a day of sledding, warm socks, and hot cocoa. just me, beef and the kids. that sounds awesome!!

my dream christmas vacation would be wyoming.

It doesn't sound all THAT appealing, considering I live in sunny southern california. But recently, my mother and father-in-law moved out there for work. I was really close with both of them, and my husband and I miss them dearly. I would love to go out there and spend this holiday together!

after a ski trip last spring, i would say a cozy little village in the northern New England area. perhaps the mountains of Vermont. the people are friendly, and it has such a quaint atmosphere. cozying up by the fireplace after a trek in the snow to the local country store...

My favorite Christmas would be in a snug, cozy older bungalow in a tiny town with snow. I'd have the whole month of December off to craft it up in style and bake to my heart's content. I'd pick the kids up from school every day and try new dinners. I'd walk the dog alot. And there would be no spongebob or stars wars. Bliss!

Miss E said...

I've been itching to go to NYC to see the lights and decorations during the holidays (and maybe some snow)! The photos are beautiful and make me want to go even more!

The Arctic Cirlce. I'm serious. Part of my mission I served in northern most Sweden and it was magical in the winter time. I'd give anything to take my husband back there so we could experience the reindeer blocking the road, the red barns covered in snow, the candles in everyone's windows, the Swedish carols and pastries, reindeer meat for dinner (it truly is the best), and 40 degrees below so we could see the most amazing, magical wonder nature has to offer: the northern lights. And of course we'd have to snuggle the whole time to stay warm. Talk about romantic!
