The Chanukah Song / Neil Diamond

*this is the song of my childhood christmases. i vividly remember being six years old, in my nightgown and rewinding the oak ridge boys cassette tape again and again and again, dancing around the red checked love seat in our family room. our (seemingly) ginormous flocked tree stood in the corner and my mom bustled about in the kitchen. with me singing on the top of my lungs. some things never change.

• and yes, the christmas season brings out the country music lover in me. or was that moving to idaho? either way, benji loves to bop and clap to the country station. i see no better reason for a country style jam session, than in the country fields with my country mouse.

• more jammin' in your jammies christmas carols over at your heart out.

This is such a great idea for a gift and I love the way you packaged it up. You are so cute and creative. I love your simple down home ideas and your childhood sentimentality and your consistant love of everyday life. It keeps us all motivated to be grateful for the simple things in life.

That's a great mix, but what I'm kind of dying over is the packaging. Whoa!

Tha OakRidge Boys album was my jam too... I remember listening to that record over and over again. I'm pretty sure I had a whole dance show made up for the entire album.

ooh great list! #1 is one of my Christmas favorites. (Have you heard Sarah McLachlan's other holiday songs? LOVE them!) Will have to check out some of the others, I always love adding new tunes to my Christmas mixes :)

Did you know that iTunes and Amazon are offering free Christmas mp3s? There are a few good ones from their mixes (including a number of country-ish ones, for your country side - like a very bluegrass Auld Lang Sine, which is unexpected but I like it!). Not sure how to post links in here, but you can find them easily on both sites (also, I wrote a post about it if you click into my blog - it has the links directly to the free downloads).

I am envisioning a marathon of CD-burning in the near future, for my upcoming drive back home for the holidays :)

That's a great playlist you've got there, Marta! Christmas brings out my love of country music too... I love the Garth Brooks Christmas cd!

hooray for doris day, and I recommend checking out lady antebellum's "baby it's cold outside" if you are on a country kick. it's ok. embrace the country music. it's ok.

Such a good idea to package it that way! You come up with the most creative ideas! Love it! I made a mixed christmas cd as well, but it's just in a plain cd case :)
