go/venture project

a little art/writing/go project.

elise and kal are two blogging artist idols of mine. i was delighted to be included in their creative adventures, aptly named: go/venture. they shout out a clever word and tell you to go. run with it. have at it. create something with that word in mind. and i love them for it.

today i join the ranks. the word is permanent. as a rusty art student might do, i thought about the assignment for an extended amount of time, dreaming up possibilities to wow. then, finally i got out my giant pad of paper and started doodling. of course mine came out in word form. black and white, no frills, no fuss. no surprise for a wordy girl like me. (am a little afraid mine will be the most boring of the bunch. working amongst these artsy types is major pressure.) but i tell myself, to begin something you always have to be a beginner at some point. yes, i am a GOventure virgin. have no fear, this is exactly why elise & kal's online art school is so awesome; there are no rights or wrongs. just creative collaboration.

with permanent markers for my muse, i wrote my heart onto the page without stopping. thoughts about permanent and what it once meant to me. and what it now means to me. (click the middle image for a closer look.) thank you ladies. lets do it again sometime! it was fun and it made me think. and it made me get out my big paper. inspiration always comes with big paper. even if it's just a small message out into the world.

make the choice to make your mark.
what does your life say?
leave the erasers behind
and live out loud.
(as kal would say, go.)

I really love this, Marta. So inspirational. Combining the fearless with the thoughtful. I think that's part of growing up. Learning to tread carefully on others hearts and be aware of more than our own purpose. But not losing that drive, that spark, that hunger. Yep, you really got my wheels turning. Love, love it.

I love reading your writing, and looking at your unique calligraphy. I would love to have something like this on my wall.

Yay! Marta! That's awesome. I just LOVE it. And I love the freedom of working with markers and knowing that you can't erase and just loving the marks for what they are. LOVE IT. Thanks for playing!

Wonderful words.
I was actually thinking about somthing similar a couple days ago. As a kid, I never thought about things, the consequences or if it was wrong. I just did it - without being afraid. Now I have to think about everything twice instead of just doing things. And by thinking everything over, sometimes I am just in my own way. To say it in your words - now I need a pencil and an eraser, too. A marker just wouldn't do it - too permanent and won't allow to re-write.
I think every once in a while we grown up should reveal our inner 5 year old self and just do and be without thinking. Throw away our erasers and get out our markers.
You just did that with your words.

I love that you wrote "inspiration always comes with big paper." Amen. I think I forget that sometimes just getting out the supplies is all you need to do to get working on something new.

You've made permanent marks on the wall of my life. (I scrubbed off the ones you made on the wall of my house, back when you were just starting your career.)

Your handwriting needs to be permanent. It's so pretty.
