the zoo and sirius radio

we decided to visit the san diego zoo as our big outing; saving the disney parks for another trip. we headed out early and decided to stay until we had to drive back to get dan to the angels baseball game. it seemed like a long drive from newport beach, but luckily we scored a rental car with sirius satellite radio, which may have been the best surprise of the whole trip. getting a purple polish pedicure, a $14 french toast meal from plums and listening to sirius were the luxury events of the week. i flipped through the stations feeling like annie discovering new rooms in daddy warbucks' mansion. i knew every word to every song of that 90s station, i'll have you know. dan liked the npr and the led zeppelin stations. i couldn't choose a favorite, i was too busy flipping. a kid in a candy store. you see, i was totally the girl who stayed in her bedroom every saturday morning to press record on her boom box while listening to casey kasem's top ten. i wonder where all those mix tapes went? yep, that and saved by the bell pretty much sums up my adolescence.

the trip to the zoo was better than i had imagined. it was a perfect place for our little monkey to roam around and then stroll while taking an afternoon nap. the weather was awesome and the animals are incredible. i love how visitors can get so up-close and personal to each exhibit. the baby giraffe, baby camel and the new little panda were too cute for words. who doesn't swoon over baby animals?! i found it hilarious to see this hippo smashed up against the glass, sleeping between it and another hippo. no body issues here. what a life.

next up.. the beach.

So this has nothing to do with the zoo, but how do you like your Bob stroller? Do you run with it? Would you recommend it?

ooh, i am glad you asked about the Bob stroller. we absolutely love it. i did a lot of research on the stroller subject and am glad we splurged for this one once he turned 6 months. (when he was tiny enough to be toted in his baby carseat, we got a simple frame stroller which was truly cheap and did the job perfectly, way better than one of those huge padded systems you see.)

the Bob rocks for running and even works in the mall too. i have loved it for everything since it rolls so smoothly over any terrain. i have a small hyundai and it packs neatly inside the trunk. all in all, i would buy it all over again.

We went to the San Diego Zoo last November and it was incredible. The polar bear was so entertaining, much different than her in MN. The baby gorrilas were chasing eachother and the wart hogs were corralling around, it was so fun!

The San Diego Zoo is the BEST zoo that I've ever been to. I loved how it was set up and I loved the exhibits. I was really excited to see the Pandas too!

It has been way too long since I've commented but I still love your blog!

I love the SD Zoo (lived in SD as a child) and Sirius radio. Sam got Sirius as a promo when he bought his jeep and immediately got addicted. Now we pay good money for it and he swears it is worth every penny.

Just so you know, I LOVED the Justin Hackworth(is that his name?) photos of you and your mom. They were beautiful.

Great pictures!

I love my satellite radio in my new car. We only got it because it came with another feature we really wanted (blue tooth for my phone) but it is so fun to listen to the music I love from my era. My son gazes at me in wonder that I know all the words to the songs. Even a gazillion years later I remember them.

sirius..is worth every penny!! I can't stand to listen to regular radio now..comericals every other song. Plus sirius plays great music way before regular radio!

I remember my daughter loving that zoo - about 20 years ago! Zoos always make me sad though. I always feel bad for the animals. Don't they have an awesome enclosed butterfly thing there or something? It's been a while but I think it was there that butterflys come and land on you.

I'm going to say that Saved By The Bell, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, and Otter Pops probably sum up my childhood.

I have never been to the San Diego Zoo, but now I want to! (Hippos are my favorite animal.)

We too rented cars with the Sirius Radio and belted out all the 90s tunes. :)

I grew up in a family of major california-goers. We traveled there about twice a year for vacation. The SD Zoo and Wild Animal park were always our favorite stops. Even better than Disneyland.

I'm so glad you had a marvelous time!
