how-to arrange fresh flowers
by marta of martawrites.com
it is quite simple to create a pretty arrangement with only a few steps. if you use an extra vase in the process for the excess stems, there is hardly any clean-up. be sure to use sharp scissors and cut stems at varying heights, snipping inches at a time. trust your artistic eye and take a minimalist approach if you are an amateur like me. the more natural they look, the better.
thanks to your emails, how-to posts will be featured every day this week while we head out for a little family excursion. more how-to's will be scattered throughout the rest of the summer season. i hope you enjoy them! please feel free to play along if you have a fun idea to share. xo.

Marta,
The flowers are beautiful (I heart peonies), however I would love to know where that gorgeous cake stand in the background came from! (I also heart cake plates).
Thanks!
I love your "How to" blog graphic.
Pretty! Just to note--your flowers will last much longer if you use a sharp knife on the ends (cut towards yourself) and not scissors. Scissors pinch the ends together more so the flowers can't soak up as much water and will die sooner.
The peonies and this whole series! Thanks for sharing. Are you going someplace fun this week?
Thank you this was lovely!
Great tips. I love the idea of them all leaning to one side. Florist? in Paris? You are so chic!
I am loving your how-tos. Keep them coming!
Beautiful! I love the How To series. Such a great idea.
i love the look of home-styled flowers so much more than the ones from a florist. your peonies are dazzling, mart. way to rock the leaning look-- it's lovely.
Peonies are my favorite!
