how-to assemble a care package

HOW-TO ASSEMBLE A CARE PACKAGE
by cathie hong of ampersandity

Over the past year, my husband & I have had our share of sicknesses, illnesses, and other unfortunate events that have put us out of commission (the most recent being consecutive wisdom teeth extractions – I had mine done first, he followed suit a week after). Through all the aches & pains, we have been the grateful beneficiaries of awesome care packages & meals from loving friends. So I thought I’d share a care package of my own:

First, buy a simple kraft gift box & line the bottom with some cute tissue paper.
Then place the following inside:

1.     Some craft supplies to pass the time. Here are two of my faves for packaging & other craft projects: Japanese masking tape & baker’s twine.
2.     A set of thank you cards for them to thank their friends after they get better.
3.     A good book (my recent fave: Jane Eyre).
4.     Some cough drops, of course.
5.     And a care package wouldn’t be complete without some pretty flowers (mine from Trader Joe’s).

Assemble it with love, write a simple heartfelt card to lift their spirits, & deliver it with a cupcake or two!

Care packages are the best...and your how-to series is wonderful!

In keeping with the how-to theme, I thought you might enjoy this blog: http://newdressaday.wordpress.com/
The gal who writes it buys a $1 dress for each day and re-styles it into something totally cute and wearable.

Thanks for being such a positive voice!

Beeeeautiful! Packages are the best! Especially when someone loves you so much that they put this much effort into preparing it. Just lovely.

I love the extra touches. Care packages are so often haphazardly put together - and while I can't complain, because hey - I love them anyway! - it sure is nice to see special care given to add even more sincerity to the thoughtful deed!
