i adore camping! we just went recently with my brother's family, and that was so. much. fun. i love sitting and visiting by the fire and waking up smelling like woodsmoke. i love that everything tastes wonderful when you're camping. i love breaking our routines, and new scenery, and long hikes. i don't even mind being grubby (there will be plenty of time for showering when we get home) and the bugs (i am invading their space, afterall).

I started family camping long ago in an old canvas tent from the 50s or 60s. The fam upgraded and eventually I got married and went backpacking. I've never had a fairy tale kind of camping experience like the photos above and would love to have something like that, but I'll take my rustic 2 person backpacking tent and inflatable pad any day!

We are campers, too, and spent our honeymoon in the mountains as well. We were just planning our 9th anniversary and decided to go camping. I can't think of anything more romantic than sleeping under the stars in the fresh air.

Have fun with your fam this weekend!

That picture of banana boats totally took me back to girl scout camp. I still make them in the oven, they are my favorite camp food. They beat s'mores hands down!

You know - I have never ever been. To camp with a bunk house, but never in a tent. It is on our list because my hubby loves it. Hopefully we can find a little gear that we need and go this summer.

I'm not a camper, but I love our annual family camp out. My camping tip is to go with people you love to be with.
