my favorite moment of the day.

we lay quietly in my bed after reading a new stack of library stories. i kiss you (and your bear) and tuck you (both) in for naps. you make sure the door is still open and your little car is nearby. you whisper any final requests, postponing the inevitable. you snuggle in or roll onto your tummy. you lay silently and observe for awhile. perhaps you are counting the knots in the wood on the walls or marveling at the blue plaid wallpaper. perhaps daddy did the same years ago in this room. you see me reading and i tell you to close your eyes, it's time to rest. i watch you flutter your eyelids open and shut and you smile a peaceful smile at your pre-nap game. you have me wrapped around your finger. i smile back. i tell you i love you. and you drift to sleep.

p.s. we're taking a mini vacay / be back soon.

p.p.s. if you're a local, it's teddy bear day at the hogle zoo on saturday. there will be zookeepers available to give your teddy a check-up. for a little boy who is very into doctors and bears, we're super excited.

Sniff. I can so relate. Being a mom is the bees knees.

Joy is usually big and boisterous. This post is peaceful and soft. But you've made me feel joy. What a happy moment.

What a sweet, sweet post. So often getting a child to sleep is portrayed as a battle, but you've shown, beautifully, that it doesn't have to be. My kids are past napping or needing much helping transitioning to sleep, but I'm taking this to heart as a reminder that I can choose to set a tone of gentleness no matter what the situation is.

Bless you, Marta, and enjoy your mini-vacay. :-)

I love that your blog is back to what it used to be. A blog about you and your writing. Less giveaways/guest posts. This is why we love you, marta. Thanks for bringing it back. I'd rather have less posts than everyday non-marta postings.

One day I pray that I will be able to share moments like this with my children.
