mark your calendars. postage rates go up to .41 for first class and .26 for postcards may 14th. i love the postal service (both of the infamous groups) and am whole-heartedly in support of this small additional fee for sending my enveloped goods across the nation. man, they deserve it. more info here.
like my sister once said, 'i couldn't pay my son 39 cents to get him to deliver a letter a block away.' sure, email is a nice/convenient/efficient & free way to communicate.. but there is nothing like sealing a letter with a kiss, a cool stamp & a handwritten sentiment.
on another note, i think you should cast your vote today. in my opinion, it's a toss up between the "Princess Leia & R2-D2" or the classic "Yoda" stamp. which is your favorite?

I'm with you! I find the postal service rather amazing. Some days I feel like I'm singlehandedly keeping letter writing in style, and the post office in business. Email is instant gratification, but I rather prefer my letters being lovingly relayed across the country by dutiful letter carriers (that's how I like to imagine it anyway).
