mother martha

spent yesterday hustling about running errands. i ran into michael's (which has had a marvelous makeover) for some glue and ribbon and landed upon something huge / wonderful / awe inspiring: the empire. yes, it has indeed struck again. i had read about it, i knew it was coming, though nothing could prepare me for this or this or this. there i was, with an armful of glue, ribbon spools, and a pack of rainy day $1 play-doh. my eyes darting to and fro.. beholding all the wonders. i took a deep breath and took it all in. ooh goodness, i'm in love.

i still don't know whether i should tell you to run to the nearest craft store or hide under the covers and close the blinds. (but truly, you must go see, it's too incredible to resist.) seriously, it's insane. there are markers, stickers, paperie, binders, invitations, favor packaging. the whole party comes packaged! yes, the party ideas in her magazines that i've been tearing out and saving for years.. now everything from the cutesy invitations, to the birthday banner to the matching flag toothpicks are ready for pick up. hardly having to lift a finger, this is going to help even the most creative-impaired person throw the perfect party. {my real mother martha is going to flip over all this stuff. she loves to buy craft supplies and then organize them in a color coded fashion.. honestly mom, you'll jump for joy. and please take me with you.}

i especially adore the polka dotted cupcake liners, the easy to make pom poms, the scalloped note cards (in all colors), the ribbon storage box and the baker's twine. oooh la la. and believe me, i don't gush easily. i am a self-proclaimed craft snob. i usually do not go ga ga over crafty type loot. but this stuff is posh & pretty. pure martha. wow. (consider this your warning.) it'll leave you speechless.

I just went to Michaels this morning and it was pretty satisfying! My favourites were the storage boxes and cutting tools. I was a bit disappointed with the paper selection - I just didn't get the "wow" feeling from them. Oh well!

It's like a be-Marta cheat sheet. Something I could definitely use.

leave it to marta to find it first and spread the good news. i'll have to add michael's to my to do list for tommorrow. we all know about my cupcake obsession, and boy do I LOVE polka dots. So the cupcake liners sound right up my alley. how can you go wrong with anything martha related? now I can look totally crafty, with actually being so. yeah for me.

Marta, I found your cute blog through Ali (and I don't know if you remember that we were friends way back when we were five!), but I had the EXACT experience yesterday at Michaels. I was so thrilled by all the pretty prints and goodies. I went in for craft paper and left with several bags of fun!

I can't wait to collect and organize all this cute stuff. The rest of you will probably actually use it. I like to insulate my drawers with cute paper, and save it for that horrible day when they don't make it anymore.
