riding for her
A week from Saturday I will be participating in a bike ride that tours throughout the beautiful Logan valley. It is not only a fun event to ride in with Dan, while viewing the gorgeous scenery, but it is an astounding sight to see so many teams gear up to unite for a good cause. I am not necessarily an avid biker, but I've decided to get involved again this year to help raise money & awareness for the MS Foundation.
My grandma Afton died of Multiple Sclerosis in 1980. She was only 55 years old. I never had the chance to meet her, though I have always pictured us meeting in heaven moments before I was born. Listening to stories my Mom & Dad tell make me feel closer to her. I can't wait to meet the sweet, petite woman who raised my Dad someday in another life. Her son is one of my favorite people in the world, therefore I know she will mean the world to me.
I know of others who live with this disease and fight it daily. Dan and I are riding in their honor. We are raising money to help support the Multiple Sclerosis Society which helps so many people across the nation. I believe every little bit helps. I've made a donation link on the side bar if any of you are interested in supporting my fund raising goal by donating $5, $10, or anything you can. I appreciate your kindness and support. I know that those suffering from MS are grateful to your open hearts. Thank you.

you guys do so many things...good luck, i'll support you...
Good for you, Marta! I don't even exercise enough, much less for a good cause. Sounds like an excellent way to make yourself and other people healthier.
I'm jealous...enjoy my the bike through my hometown. Love those mountains ringing the valley!
You make me tired just reading about your goings on :) You go with gusto!
Truly a great cause. Have a great ride!
What a wonderful cause.
I'm sure it will be an enjoyable time outdoors as well.
You will be in my neck of the woods, so to speak, when you do the Mud Run. I've been to many a triathlon at Camp Pendleton.
Enjoy!
have fun at the mud road... it's goingto be awesome!
thank you, thank you, thank you for doing this. you are so kind.
my dad was diagnosed with MS about 8 years ago. it was really hard at first- he used a cane for a little while, and it was so strange to me because he was in his mid 30s and i was only 13 or so. we used to go bike riding and play tag all the time, two things that we haven't done since. he's doing great now, but my heart still aches knowing that he's uncomfortable and feels pins and needles from the chest down. he hates when people feel sorry for him, so i don't really talk about it even though we have a great relationship.
i plan to do a walk, run or bike at the next MS event to take place around here. until then, i will be donating as soon as i get paid.
i'm off to check out the link to see if anything is coming up in a nearby city.
You have to send pictures of you all runing in the mud...it sounds insane!
Way to go Marta! I have some friends who do this ride each year, their mom has MS!
You'll have an amazing adventure!
Good luck Mart..I know you can do it. Proud of you.
i'm very jealous of all the fun runs and rides you get to do this year. i hope next year, you'll want to do some more and I can join you. good luck and stop by on your way to sd or on your way back and we can get some snow caps!!
My mother-in-law died of MS at the age of 49 after battling the disease for more than 20 years. We did the MS walk a couple of years ago. One of these times I'm going to do the MS 150. You rock for doing it. Have fun!
p.s. I'm Anna's little sister and your brother's sister-in-law :-D
