five facts

have been tagged by the beautiful jen. and have decided to play along properly. {although you already know more than enough random facts about me. here are five more.}

01. my weapon of choice is: smudgy eyeliner, bumble + bumble hair powder, nude gloss and a cozy scarf. even if you wake up late, you can take these items on the go and create an oh so fierce look without much effort. it's is especially keen if most days you don't wear much smolder upon the eyelids. you will be shocked that you get compliments on your dazzling eye makeup the day you fell out of bed and out the door.

02. i wear clean socks to bed. because if my feet are cold, so is the rest of me. this is a must in order to survive the utah winters in an old, aka charming, li'l apartment. i think these might do wonders. {anything with the words plush and duvet along with luxury has me sold.}

03. i write in both the front pages and the back pages of my notebooks. and then i meet my words in the middle. it's a strange little habit. but it just feels right. it feels like too much of a commitment to write on the proper page that comes right after next. and there are days where i just would like to write a little ditty without it mattering. therefore it goes in the back.

04. i have a huge stash of cookie cutters, silk ribbon, polka dot gift wrap and i have yet to meet a letterpressed card that i didn't like. {i am mad about all things twee + darling. and would like to set up a tent 'neath the tables of fancy books bulging of quotes and fine type and gorgeous page layouts of my favorite stationery shops. i could dwell among the rolls of japanese paperie and the feather pens and the tortoise rimmed reading glasses.} thus, i introduce the very merry letterpress christmas of 2007. i decided early on that i was going to send out letterpressed cards to friends + family this year. not only because i love them, want to support various letterpress studios, but also because, i believe a letterpress piece is a small gift of art within itself. so tear it open with care, my friends.

05. i wear sturdy shoes until the very end. with shoes, i am one loyal solemate. favorites include: classic chuck taylors, steve madden mary janes (most recently retired) to be replaced with new dansko clogs (loving these and have a few tips in choosing the best pair. if you care, email me), chaco flipflops (once you invest, you'll never turn back).

bonus. i sing to myself. all the time. mostly without knowing it. mostly songs that are from the radio. from when i was in middle school. sometimes it's 'someday somebody's gonna make you wanna turn around and say goodbye.. til then baby are you gonna let it hold ya down and make ya cry..' other days it's 'straight up now tell me, do you really wanna love me forever..' and other days it's 'if i could turn back time.. if i could find a way, i'd take back those words....' lately it's, 'doncha wish your girlfriend was hot like me'. and when it comes to classics like west side story or newsies (yes, both classics in my mind), forget it. i'm all over it.

okay. so play along (and sing along) if you please.

how well does the b&b hair powder work? is it messy or hard to use? i've always been skeptical of it! also, where do you find it in stores? i love these little factoids you share!

i'm the same way about my feet. i hope its okay with a person i might have to someday share a bed with.

and girl. hold on for one more day is possibly the best song ever.

I bought a pair of danko (magnolias) this past summer. I'm still wearing them even though my toes are freezing. I need to buy some actual shoes that cover toes up.. tips would be muchly appreciated..:)

(ps: newsies is surely a classic and anyone who says otherwise is definitely not a connoisseur of musicals.)

tip #1. the b&b hair powder has been redesigned as an aerosol spray. awesome. it's cinchy and should be applied just at the roots. only a little bit is required and the bottle will last longer than you might think. it gives a bit of oomph and is perfect for a nice matte hold for updos.

tip #2. dansko clogs are each made individually. so once you find your size, try on a few pair (of the same style shoe) in the same size. they will all feel quite different. swap them around til you find your favorite fit. the nordstrom guy was all over this and said it's quite common to mix and match until you find a pair that fit nicely.

What about: "Should have fit like a glove, should have fit like a ring, like a diamond ring, token of a true love..." That should be sung on a weekly, if not daily basis in memory of the good old days. I hope you do actions in the car.

Marta, the foot duvets are, as Daniel would say, the JAM. You should invest. Or have him invest. You won't regret it.

I didn't really appreciate letterpress until you filled me in. I am looking forward to mine. Hope you like the one I picked up for you at Tarjay.

I'm a sock girl too. I bought these for the hubster's stepmom for Christmas. They don't have the plush lining, but they come in more colors, ha.

dlb keeps telling me to buy clogs. I'm not a clog kind of girl. they just seem so... bulky! any suggestions on clogs or other shoes that I can wear wool socks with and that are backless, and not boots. I'm in need of warm shoes. oh yea, and weatherproof! :)

cute post. I may have to play along.

alyson, you should try the cabrio clogs. i too love a backless, throw on and go, run out to the car and back, warm, no nonsense comfy shoes. they are a bit heavy, but perfect for winters and bootleg jeans.

love the b+b hair powder. i was scared of it for a long time, but it is an amazing product. one tip, go a shade darker than you think you need. i'm a light brunette and use the "blond" and can still see it on my scalp.

thanks for the tips on the dansko. they've been on the radar for a while.
