sweets and the city

pregnancy in new york city equals snacks in new york city. luckily with willing sistas to share in the sugar, we had plenty of delicious opportunities to take a bite of. the only trouble is there weren't enough mealtimes to fit in all the stops you suggested. therefore i'll have to save this nyc savory & sweets list for next time too.

our top picks to savor
Books of Wonder children's bookstore & The Cupcake Cafe
Carnegie Deli (we had the lemon coconut cake & fifth avenue candy bar cheesecake)
The hidden Burger Joint inside the fancy le Parker Meridian Hotel (their burgers are a bit spicy and deliciously affordable; a hole in the wall nyc version of in & out)
The Comfort Diner (perfect hometown food; get the sweet potato fries for starters and then get another order to take home to your honey. they also have amazingly light and fluffy cheesecake, topped with homemade caramel, like your grandma used to make.)

you could easily do a little daytime jaunt in this darling neighborhood. i know i will next time i am there. go for lunch at the City Bakery (3 West 18th Street Union Square). then cross the street to digest and browse at Books of Wonder (18 West 18th Street) and grab a cupcake inside their cafe and sit on their cute ladybug chairs. next, go down the street and hit ABC Carpet and Home (888 & 881 Broadway New York, NY 10003) and Fresh is also on a nearby corner. walk a ways to Fishs Eddy (889 Broadway at 19th Street) for jaw dropping lovely darling and the most unique dishes you've ever looked upon in your life. after spending a wad, you'll find yourself dizzy and needing a place to rest; head to madison square park for a sweet shake at the corner shack. shop the day away until you drop. meet your friends for a pile of sweet potato fries at the comfort diner. (you'll thank me later.) show & tell about the darling dishes you purchased and plan your next dinner party. have fun.

Don't forget the maple syrup dipping sauce to go with the sweet potato fries!

I would eat all of those things on my next fantasy trip to NYC and I'm NOT pregnant. Who needs an excuse!?

Loved reading you notes about the luscious spots you visited in NYC. As they are in my backyard, sometimes it's nice to see it all through someone else's eyes to appreciate the little bits of joys that are at my fingertips.
