sugar. spice. sprinkles. and trans fats too.

dear mom,

you're in luck. you can stop staying up til the wee hours making pro & con lists, weeding out your non-favorite children from your favorite. when you & pops come to visit us in a week, i will be taking you to my new favorite donut shop: Daylight Donuts.

i discovered it this sunny bright friday morning (7 am is beautiful here, by the by) and made a mad dash, in your honor. it's right across from dan's new office and has a drive up window. my hair was a disaster (you are familiar with my morning monstrosity scene), i hadn't a stitch of makeup on, yet i threw on my ginormous glamourous steve & barry sunglasses (which looked totally hot with dan's fleece pants and sweatshirt i was stretching over my bulging belly. think, glamour meets baggy-panted ninja. i was mixing it up, sarah jessica style. i mean it is her big day afterall..) and ordered myself two fat round delicious displays of affection. hopefully taping the bag shut will prevent me from eating the second one; dan's celebratory last day of his first week at the new job / i am a nice, caring, thoughtful wife donut. though if i accidentally shove it in my mouth, i know how to hide the evidence. and i'll hear your consoling voice in my head, you needed that second one, for brucey. you're always good like that.

we won't be zooming to South Coast Plaza after enjoying our bavarian creams (although i wish, that nordstroms is to die for and h&m is there now too), but we will get to sit on the shore of the snake river, buy rhubarb at the farmers market and see a field of cows on our way to non-stop serious fun at the local wal-mart. can you hardly wait?! i know, me neither.

so hands down, i am the new favorite. see you next saturday.

xo. mini

Yum, donuts. When I was pregnant all I wanted was a freaking donut. But I had gestational diabetes and eating a donut is like the cardinal sin of glucose intolerance. Oh but after I gave birth you know I had two old fashions and didn't feel the slightest tinge of guilt.
