speaking of photoshop

i thought this was so intriguing to watch; here is a dove campaign about how distorted our perception of beauty can be. it's amazing to see the reality behind the scenes of creating "beauty" for consumer's sake. and the fact that time after time we believe it to be the real deal is completely maddening. three cheers for seeking out real beauty and celebrating it every day. thanks meg for this email.

real beauty. a perfect thing for me to focus on, being post-baby body and all. i try to comprehend the magic of birthing a baby rather than wondering when/if my favorite jeans will ever fit again.

Hi Marta,

I just saw an interesting documentary about this you might enjoy. It's called America The Beautiful.

Congrats on your little one:)!

Your jeans will fit. And you are beautiful and astounding right now, just as you are.

Marta... I found your blog through Tip Junkie and after reading several entries I put two and two together and figured out your relation to Gab... whose blog I've been loving for a couple of months... I have loved your insight and writing style and photos! I echo your thoughts about focusing on the magic of giving life--my stretch marks mean that my body is capable of something amazing, even if my jeans don't fit just how I want them to.

they will fit. just don't worry about it. Embrace the stretchy pants for as long as you can! like, say, 2 years after you give birth

You are welcome! Im so glad you posted it on your blog! I wish every woman in the world could see it and realize that the world and media have made beauty something completely different from reality.

Thanks for sharing it with your many readers.

hi marta. i found your blog through kaylene higbee. I completely agree with you. I'm a photographer by trade and focus a good chunk of my time to showing women as beautiful as they really are. I finished up a project awhile back that was all on women without makeup (can see it at http://alishastamper.instaproofs.com) i'm really enjoying your blog. My little guy is 7 months old, and your insights and eloquence remind me of the things i loved that i need to write down for him. Have a great day!
