my little librarian

benji must have packed a few new tricks in with our bags. suddenly and without any sort of dress rehearsal whatsoever, he has discovered the second shelf up. i am realizing that my dream home packed with pretty art books laying about in fashionable stacks will just have to wait. good thing this boy has a smile like sugar. yesterday i found him standing and rifling through the bookshelves, reorganizing my paperbacks like a miniature professor. (his daily task is emptying his books on level one. he prefers them abstractly strewn all over the rug.) apparently, he's interested in obtaining more real estate in this place.

after much wobbly standing efforts, my boy plopped down, ignoring his toys in order to skim the books he chose so carefully. seen here with my highlighted high school edition of harper lee's to kill a mockingbird.

so funny.
my daughter was ennamoured by our book shelves. We eventually cleared off the second shelf as well. Her favourite book was a math textbook of my husbands.
brings back memories

I see he has the bookworm genes! (Also looks like he got our leg genes...lucky Benj!) So fun to see him up and active.

Hahah. Too cute! Imagine if he gets to high school and already has a second sense about "To Kill a Mockingbird"? You'll know it was the toddler skimming!

I remember clearly at 15 months finding my daughter on top of the bookshelf.

I have given up decorating my home's bottom 4 feet.

He is a darling little one!

These are precious moments!

Wait until he discovers cardboard boxes. My kids have used them as their perfect hideaways, private theater, race cars (with GrandPa pulling them around the house!)... Little boxes become shakers - you'll be amazed at their creativity.

Those toys that you invested big bucks on? Many times, they just sit there jealous of all the action.
