party in the park
after a rainy sunday, we lucked out with sunshine just in time for the big event yesterday. the playdate in the park party was laid back and wonderful, thanks to the moms who came along and brought benji's guests. hilary captured the day with her camera, rachel delighted the kids with a small bike to share, and jill was kind enough to save benji from swallowing rocks on the playground! all the children were so darling together.

we ate chicken salad sandwiches, melon, apple juice, fistfuls of goldfish and sprinkled donuts for dessert. (thank you, dan!) wipes, sippy cups and extra bibs came in handy for small ones. benj was glad that i'd remembered his favorite toy, the laundry basket (it was perfect to tote all the blankets and food in). he loves to push it along, practicing his walking debut. so happy to be such a big boy.
the kids crawled about together and played with trucks and books on the blankets. i love watching benji interact with his sweet friends. their young personalities mingling make us laugh. as the party wrapped up, each guest left with a jar of goldfish crackers and a pinwheel. our way of saying, thanks for celebrating.

Happy Birthday Benji! Wow, what a great party! I am curious to know what is in the jars with the pinwheels... Did you make his party hat? (previous post) So cute!!!!
What a fun party! And so age appropriate! Every details looks awesome. I especially love the pinwheels.
LOVE the goldfish jar party favors. Very clever -- and SO age appropriate! Perfect!
Leave it to you to come up with the PERFECT party favors for their age. Pinwheels and fish, what could be better? Love the jars (where did you get them?) How I wish Jake and I could have been around for the festivities. You do up a great party!
I follow Hil's blogs I went to school with Jer and I came across your wonderful page... I just love the park party.... so adorable and great ideas.
Cheers,
Amber
You know how to have fun!!
Looks like fun! Love the finger foods. I will have to remember some of these ideas in 6 months for my baby's first.
Great details! I also love the mini jars of goldfish crackers...a favorite snack for kids of ALL ages!
i don't think a birthday party could be any more heavenly. chicken salad? donuts for dessert?! what lucky party-goers they were. you planned perfection, marta. way to rock benji's first.
Happy Birthday Benji boy! Your mama has taught me a lot about being a better mom, you sure are a lucky one.
Darling party Marta!
What adorable little party animals they all are! :)
Love the jar of golfish... such a cute idea! I never realized how close in age your little guy is to my nephew... and it's funny because I posted about my nephew's 1st bday on my blog today too! :)
I can't even begin to express the fun Little Guy had at Benji's party. He was so wired, he didn't go down for a nap until 2 hours past his normal time. Every detail was amazing (as always) and the chicken salad sandwiches were DANG good.
Thanks for being so wonderful. Benji is one lucky boy. I'd tell you to stop, that you are making the rest of us look bad, but honestly, I don't want you to stop.
Thanks for a wonderful day at the park.
So cute. I hope he never grows up and wants a party at Chuck E Cheese.
