his hat

thank you for indulging me in my sharing of the epitome of christmas snapshot. for those of you who inquired, benji's little stocking hat came wrapped in tissue paper, along with a matching sweater, from the treasure trove that is my mother-in-law's basement. benji is lucky to have such sweet heirlooms. i am still hoping to discover a photo of dan wearing it when he was tiny. the big dark eyes peering out are sure to be identical to benji's.

speaking of my little guy, i will attempt to give you a little update. he is pretty much the best pal ever. he is learning his shapes (currently preferring the circle - which comes to no surprise knowing his affinity for the wheel) and carries his mini mailbox shape sorter all over the house. he is a big help when it comes to sorting laundry. he loves to dance dance dance, wobbling his knees anytime he hears some music. he jabbers on the phone. and when i say phone i mean the real phone, my cell phone (heidi, sorry about that random prank call), the remote to the tv and my little black calculator. suffice it to say, he's getting a toy phone for christmas. he holds the device up to his ear in typical tiny person fashion. i never knew having a little one so rambunxious could be so fun. he has recently learned to shake his head no, however it's rather more of a dance move than a rebellious act. he also crosses his feet at the ankles when he's eating or riding in the car. which i find totally sweet and studious. peek-a-boo is still a favorite, as is bouncing on the bed and taking rides on hop-along the horse. and when i say hop-along the horse i mean dan or i. benji loves flipping the light switch on and off. again and again. and then he'll lean over and try to give it a kiss. he loves it that much. random, i know. but completely cute. another thing i love, is the way he watches me fill the bath while he piles in the toys one by one. we are a working team, he and i. he has a habit of leaning over on his tippy toes and feeling the running water with his hand, just like mama does. oh and benji and his blueberries must be mentioned. the way he smashes these in his wide open mouth, i doubt he's even tasting them, he swallows them by the fistful. he is mad about blueberries. and we, in turn, are madly in love with him.

Oh he is so cute. And Hil is right, he knows how to steal one's heart. I don't know little Benji in person, of course... but the way you write about him and the pictures tell it all. Hope I will have a cute little boy like him in the future.

you think a prank call to your friend is bad, when my little boy was his age, he accidentally dialed 911 on my cell phone. i had no idea how it happened but i was so embarrassed!

it's true, like the others have said, it's not like I know benjo personally or anything but from all your posts about him he just seems like the sweetest little person ever.
i think it's so nice that you take the time write about him, this blog will be such a gift to him when he is older.

If you ever need a few hours of get-away, post Benji on the give-away. You'd have 288 babysitters signing up! He's a cutey patootie.

Adorable little boy! My daughter also loved phones (back before cell phones, just had a cordless phone in the kitchen) so I gave her a play phone for Christmas when she was 14 months old, but she wanted nothing to do with it, guess she knew it wasn't the real thing. I finally had to put the real phone up very high after she dialed 911-- they called me wanted to know if there was an emergency.
I enjoy reading your blog! Sandy
