packing up my adjectives

to say there has been a flurry of excited emails exchanged recently is putting it mildly. my three sisters, my mom and i are all hanging up our aprons, putting our computers to sleep, stocking up on enough milk and frozen family meals, dumping ice into the cooler, kissing babies buh bye and packing our bags for our girls getaway. thanks to our much-appreciated awesome husbands, we are confident to be leaving everything in the best of hands. remember when we went to new york city circa 08? we saw a show, walked 5th avenue, ate cupcakes and i brought home new maternity clothes which i'd wear all summer long, a season that felt like infinity. dan has graduated from law school, got a job, we moved to idaho, i gave birth, and we became a family of three since then. crazy how life changes in only a blink.

dan has some boy adventure plans in the works while i'm away. likely including an outing with benji to see the cows and their calves. yes, it's calving season again in these parts, which means a weekly drive out to farmland with our camera in hand and clicking out the window. and then the ol' debate about whether or not farm country smells good or not.

anyway, back to the excitement at hand. i am packing up all the goods. i'll be toting along the classic roadtrip must, muddy buddies. isn't anticipation so much fun?! am also bringing a few books to fall in love with. i highly recommend the two business craft books pictured above. already i am underlining them to pieces. and The Help is in constant discussion amongst my friends and sisters. we'll likely have a bit of a bookclub about it while we're together. so i better get on it.

another thing i mentioned in the flurry of emails was a request for everyone to bring their favorite beauty product to plug. am not sure whether or not we'll have the time or extra funds for a day at the spa, so i've been self-appointed as project manager in charge of the Beautification Station in our hotel room. i plan on sharing my new favorite deep conditioning hair masque, an assorted mix of m.a.c. eyeshadows, spring shades of nail polish, foot scrub and then some. do you have a favorite beauty product to plug?

i'm signing off until next week wherein i'll divulge all the details of my secret sister gifts i have wrapped up, our roadtrip mix cd and other new favorites we find. wishing you a happy weekend. xo.

unsure of the origin of the title to this post? then you must get schooled in school house rock. if you must know, i played the role of adjective girl in a play once, so i have the whole song memorized and will sing it for you on demand.

Love School House Rock! My grandchildren are rocking to it these days, while their mothers sing all the words (which they still have memorized).

We do a girls get together - we call it Sisters. All the sisters and sisters-in-law on my husbands side. We have done it every year since 1991. We love it!

Have fun.

"Conjunction junction" was my favorite and I find myself singing it sometimes - too funny. The getaway sounds divine. I just got back from a little trip but would be ready to on yours in a heartbeat. Can't wait to hear all about it.

Well, I must be sleep deprived because I thought you were packing up all of your adhesives!!
My book club is reading The Help also, so I can't wait to dive in. Craft, Inc. is definitely one of my fave biz books, so I'll have to check out The Handmade Marketplace.

Have a great time!!

Loved The Help. And I also love a simple nail buffer from the drug store.

no way! miss adjective girl! we did the school house rock musical in 8th grade, so i am well-schooled in those awesome songs. in fact, haley was the interjections girl. (i was but a lowly background singer doing hand motions on the risers. but i loved it.)

so glad you're back now marta! hope you ladies had a lovely time away, and so excited to hear tell of your secret sister gifts and new faves from vegas!
