giveaway: handmade journals

today's giveaway is from a gal in germany, katie, creator of Gadanke
giving :: a $30 gift certificate to her online shop

please comment today to enter to win.
tell me a piece of advise you'd like to pass on.
you only have until tonight to enter.

a bit of a bio :: Gadanke is a handmade book shop of writing prompt journals, minibooks, and love letters. I want to help people create the type of journal that they'll be inspired to write and later, treasure. Materials I use include Italian patterned papers, 100% recycled German papers, pockets, and tags. My husband and I live abroad in a 480 square foot apartment in Berlin, Germany. Celebrate your story! That's our motto - in the shop and in life.

thank you katie! please visit her blog + shop.

congratulations to... tara who commented, As a stay-at-home mom that is constantly cleaning, and re-cleaning, my advise is: do something everyday that can't be undone. i.e. call a friend, read a story to a child, write in your journal. I obviously need help with the writing in journal part, or I wouldn't desperately be wanting these cute journals.

p.s. thank you everyone for joining in on the giveaway series. i am super pleased and am delighted in your comments. i am skipping town soon, but i have one more giveaway scheduled and more mother's day posts in the works for the weekend. and a big tutorial set up for tuesday. tune in..

So pretty!

Advice?

Passion is not expectation. Changed my life!

Everything happens for a reason. Wow. I truly believe this. No matter how hard it is to accept that when something happens, the answer appears at some point to bring peace and closure.

I used to live in Berlin, too! And I love this idea. Great shop.

Kim said...

Like yourself. Be kind to yourself. Not in a "I love myself" kind of way, just accept who you are. :)

These are so great! I LOVE that they are ringed instead of bound.

Don't worry too much because it all works out in the end.

I'm going to Berlin this summer!

My advice is to wear it like it matches!

wow, this is the first mother's day giveaway that i've entered but i couldn't resist! these journals are inspiring and unique (much like your mini-diaries!) and i'd love to have one, either for myself or to pass on to my mom!

i don't know if this is advice, but more of an important theme: balance. try to find balance in everything you do. balance between work and home, family and friends, laughter and tears, running around and lounging, junk food and healthy food. balance is the key, i think.

Love these! My bit of advice would be to remember you have what it takes, right here right now to make "IT" happen whatever "IT" is for you!

My advice, that has been working for me real well past year. Those voices that like to tell you that you don't measure up, when you hear them coming tell them they have to leave and then tell yourself that you do measure up. This has done wonders for my attitude and my motivation to do the things I want to do.

Lena said...

Ooh, these journals are so neat. If I don't win (and I fully expect not to), I think I will fashion one of my own.

I think my best advise I could pass on to someone is that you have to take care of yourself before you can take care of anyone else. That is, you have to be happy to make others happy.

Happy Mother's Day Marta!

Adore those journals!! And I would have to say..."Be a first rate version of yourself, unique in your own way...one of a kind...you'll find yourself there."

Love the journals!

since I work at a high school, my advice would be: High School really isn't everything... life still lies ahead!

Oh.... I would also like to add: "It's not all about you." I think there are a lot of teenagers who need to know that their life is not being videotaped and dramatic music isn't playing everytime they have an interaction with another person. Sometimes I swear they are looking for a cameraman or something.

Advice:

Laugh everyday. It does the soul good.

Love the journals!

My Great Grandma LaRue taught me to record all the funny thing my kids say everyday. So I keep a notebook in the kitchen to help me track the moments of their life. It may not be pretty right now but at least I have the memories.

Best piece of advice I ever received was from my sister in law, who just passed on this past Sunday...

"no matter how many times you fall down, just pick yourself up and stand tall again"

the same advice we have heard in a number of different formats...just never give up.

Happy Mother's Day to all!

As for the advice-- Never put yourself down (there are enough people in the world who will do that for you!)

I also love - "Leap and the net will appear." Though more of a saying than advice.

Thanks so much for this.

These are amazing and so inspiring!

Best advice EVER from my mom (in regard to parenting, but useful for life in general).

Maintain your sense of humor.

Can't tell you how many times those words have turned my perception of a situation or event into something much more manageable.

my mom always tells me: be able to be alone. and be happy. independence and being strong can carry you.

love the journals. so unique!

The best advice was something my mother told me: you are not defined by a number. Everyone places so much importance on weight... and while it's good to be healthy, weight is not the only thing that tells you who you are.

Wow, such great comments. Especially "Wear it like it matches"! This is my new motto!!!

Don't take things personally. We're (well, at least I am) so quick to think that the little things that people do or say are meant to be insulting, when it's really not all about you.

just because someone does something different, doesn't make it wrong.

i had huge issues w the way my husband took care of our infant. so that was the biggest lesson i had to learn. to let go and let him be different than me.

i've been seeing different versions of these journals pop up and i absolutely adore the mismatched paper and thought put into them. so cute. very meaningful give away, too!
