how-to wrap a gift with drugstore supplies

HOW-TO WRAP A GIFT WITH DRUGSTORE SUPPLIES
by amber of giverslog.com

Hello friends and fellow fans of Marta. I am honored to be here, appearing on an all-time favorite read of mine. Today I’ll be discussing a favorite topic of mine, simple but pretty ways to package up a gift for someone you love. (If you’d like to see more, check out my pretty packaging inspiration board.)

If you were to peek into my gift wrap closet, you would find all sorts of bits and pieces of leftovers I’ve stashed away. I’m normally not much of a pack rat. But when it comes to scraps for gift wrap, I am guilty of holding on to everything. I love wrapping with scraps and always find myself very pleased with the outcome once these bits come together.

A couple of the best supplies for doing this are the humble paper bag and a roll of poster tape.

Are you familiar with poster tape? It is my absolute favorite for making my own labels. It has a peel-away backing, so you can make labels in advance if you like and just peel off the back when you’re ready to get wrapping.

Poster tape will let you make a label out of anything, tiny fabric scraps, bits of tissue paper, doilies, baking cups, old books, pieces of old greeting cards. So many possibilities.

If the label you’re making is wider than the tape, just lay a couple pieces of tape side by side.

Use scissors or a punch to cut out fun shapes. I always punch while the backing is still on.

Poster tape is fantastic for adhering to bits of fabric.

One of my favorite things to use is pure, unadulterated glitter. Rhinestones also work.

Doilies are always prim and pretty, don’t you think?

The possibilities go on and on. Have fun experimenting!
