choo choo costume

halloween weekend was super fun. last week was full of getting into costume. luckily his was a super easy outfit to throw on last minute. whenever benji sees his overalls now he goes, choo choo! we got in on a lot of great activities around town. this little train engineer and i attended the costume parade at the library. he got a kick out of seeing all the other ghouls and boys dressed up for the occasion. (our local library even has train tracks directly in front of the doors–very odd, i know–which made for a perfect photo op!) later we headed to the boo at the zoo which he loved (thanks for the tip, kj!) the next night we celebrated at a friend's house for mummy dogs (hot dogs wrapped in croissants), wild rice baked inside a pumpkin, a jack-o-lantern chicken pot pie, frothy punch with worms and my flaming ghost cake (luckily he tasted better than he looked)! then we bundled up for trick or treating. i loved watching benji react to all the festivities! at first he was a little confused that he couldn't walk right inside everyone's house once they opened the door, but soon he figured out it was all about getting candy (ala seinfeld). we headed home to cozy up with a football game after tucking our cute critter in bed. am ever so thankful this little one is ours.

coming up: another inspiring how-to post you won't wanna miss.

He was the cutest little engineer, Marta. I loved your ghost cake... I thought it was adorable and delicious! Where is he raking the leaves?? Those are bound to make one giant pile!

The best Halloween costume for little boys. I remember when I dressed my boy in overalls like that. His favorite was Thomas the Tank engine as well and he's 18 years old now. Thomas has been around for awhile.

Well your little train engineer would go down a storm with my gaggle of nephews! What is it about Thomas the Tank engine - it so cleverly spans generations!

Sounds like the perfect Halloween celebrations were had by all.
