the most important meal of the day.

a little morning survey with your cup o' love. the photographer, jen is quite the brilliant one. i am fond of her work and simply adore her simply breakfast blog. her pictures seem welcomingly normal and familiar. unplanned, a tad haphazard meets up with simply gorgeous composition. (i like knowing that my butter is often half unwrapped, my grandma's butter knives had the same handle design and i love dousing my eggs with salt + pepper too. everyone can relate to breakfast. especially her non-packaged, wholesome, fresh, sit down and read the paper type breakfast scenes. i hunger for them. just looking at these makes me want to sit down with a fresh bowl of berries and forget ironing my shirt or fixing my hair. sometimes all the stuff i think is important really isn't.) i don't know how she does it, but her work pulls me in for more. i would like to fill my kitchen nook full of frames featuring her photos. take her survey and discover what bloggers eat for their first meal of the day, all around the world. fascinating + delightful.

my favorite special occasion breakfast would have to be the lavish plate served in a hip little cafe in the corner of costa mesa, california called Plum's. when you go there (and i say when because there shall be no if), order from the brunch menu: COCONUT FRENCH TOAST served with Strawberries, Papaya & Banana with Orange Butter & Maple Syrup. while you are at it, you may as well order the fancy schmancy overpriced Hot Cocoa too. you won't regret it.

i was lucky to share in the joy of taking the girls there when they visited. dan surprised me and took me there on our last hurrah weekend of living under the california sun. plum's and the getty are truly not to be missed. and neither is wahoo's fish tacos or pinkberry for that matter. or the mammoth nordstrom, zara and new h&m at south coast plaza.

Thanks for highlighting that blog, its beautiful. If you are ever in San Diego you must have breakfast at the Parkhouse Eatery (and have the parkhouse benedict with hot chocolate AND the ph sunrise), its the consistently amazing.

I love the daisy stainless. I've been looking at stainless lately... my pattern is Onieda Bella Rose has been dis-continued for some time. I went to see the new Martha Collection that has just arrived at Macy's. Are we giants now? Have you hefted those knives.. no need to weight lift at the gym you'll be buff after breakfast. Sorry.. I'll step off the soap box now, but if you see anything really pretty..:)

how fun! I forgot she had that blog. what a delight it was to drool over her fabulous breakfast options while I was eating my bowl of oatmeal this morning!

my favorite weekend specialty = vanilla pancakes + nectarines + pecans + a tiny drop of maple syrup

Thank you so much for letting us in on that survey. It was so fun reading everyone's international breakfast comments. I too love breakfast and love her photos. My favorite breakfast is a breakfast burrito + orange juice.

I thought Plums was fabulous. Is there some place along the Wasatch Front that compares?
