happy easter and other happies

week on cloud nine has officially begun. there have already been pretty easter dresses, baskets of plastic eggs, church lessons, a plethora of colored jelly beans, carrot cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, ham and asparagus, family togetherness and lots of gorgeous sunshine. there was also a moment wherein a favorite go-to h&m skirt did not button up, we won't dwell on that though.

had to drop a line in honor of mr. adam duritz. just barely got word (thanks to a blogfriend) that another counting crows album, Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings, is being released this very tuesday. couldn't think of better timing. i love this silly band and can never get sick of them. (or their one song mr. jones. specifically the remade vh1 version where he starts out, this is a song about my dreams. if you know what i'm taking about, you should be my new bff.) their music reminds me of discovering life way back in ninth grade. i was sooooo deep and intellectual in ninth grade. i had it all figured out.

looks like he's bringing back lyrics about cowboys and satellites and los angeles and dancing and all your favorite favorites. cheers to starting the week off right.

We may have a few more snow storms.. you never know for sure in Utah.. but Spring is officially here.. We can all celebrate. I celebrated by planting 2 flats of pansies and reveling in the fact that flowers are here again! Hooray!

the first days of spring where its warm enough to drive with the windows down and the radio blasting always call for counting crows. ironically enough i just had this first day of spring moment on saturday and i was thinking of you mart. i was thinking about our obsession with this band in ninth grade and i was thinking about how they truly did bring us together - that and herr otto of course. i think its appropriate to say that even though i -naturally- know all about the remade VH1 version... i am already your bff. i love you and 'counting' and all of our memories.
i walk along these hillsides in the summer neath the sunshine i am feathered by the moonlight falling down on me...

Seriously! You ARE oh so delightful! I too was deep thanks to Mr. Adam and his lyrics. Thanks for taking me down memory lane...especially with that VH1 line.

Hmmm, thought I posted a comment but I guess it blipped. Anywho, I was so excited to get a comment on my blog from my favorite blogging chicas. Thanks for that and all the great, happy writing you do. I'm so way excited to have a new CD to listen to repeatedly ad nauseum.

cheers, your blogfiend in Middle America (where its the heart that matters most)

Moonlight creeping around the corners of our lawn/When we see the early signs that daylight's fading/We leave just before it's gone

Deep is a state of mind, entirely relative, but always relevant to the moment. And especially important to 9th graders who are just learning they have really important things to say...

Funny how music can link people together--to eras in our lives, friends far and near, classes we shared, relationships for which we yearn, youth we treasure. Here's to good music that speaks to us...here's to the Counting Crows!

Ok this is why we blog, to spread super secrets like this. I am thrilled that they have a new album out. August and Everything after was the first cd that I ever bought.

The one thing about the VH! Across the wire album, that always puzzles me is...just who is Elizabeth? She crops up in so many songs....

Oh how I played that two disc set over and over until I knew each song was specifically written just for me! I caught a live show recently (on WXPN) and although I am looking forward to a new sound, I will forever be an "and everything after" girl.

i feel the exact same way about the counting crows. i have had the good fortune of seeing them live multiple times and hanging out with the band for a wee bit after every show. i will always have a little love in my heart for adam...

in fact, the name of my blog is straight out of the song omaha from "august and everything after," simply my favorite album of all time.
