baby booties
our dear friend is living in Sarajevo for a few years. she thoughtfully sent us these darling booties for benji. they arrived just in time, on his unbirthday. they are hand knitted in the small villages around Bosnia, mostly in the winter when the women are not herding sheep. i very much love the intricate knitted patterns and the beautiful colors in the photographs she sent alongside. i am fascinated in the skills and crafts of women across the globe. it's nice to step back every once in awhile and marvel. what treasures these will be.

Sweet booties. I love things handmade from other countries. I have baskets from Somalia, a poncho from Panama, a purse from Equador, quilts from Korea (all items given to me by people who have been in those countries)

How amazing to be given such a beautiful gift, so lovely for your baby boy. Is that bridge in the picture the Mostar bridge? It is beautiful now it has been rebuilt.
