nevermind spray paint, hello glitter

glitter me happy.

at this very moment i am looking around my house wondering what else i can glitter-i-fy. i am officially addicted. where have i been? i realize so many of you are already on the martha stewart glitter cruise ship, but i totally missed the boat way back then. today i timidly stepped aboard and may never get off. glittering is the most quick and easy, painless happy craft yet. i started off mod podging these wooden stars into paper cut oblivion and stopped while i was ahead. it was too much work to be fun. so i planned to spray paint them instead when martha stewart jumped out at me. can christmas be christmas without some serious seasonal sparkle? i think not. there are so many choices; a rainbow of colors, tiny tinsel, microbeads and even flocking! luckily i had a phone conference with my cousin abby. her basic advice was, you can't go wrong. since i am new at glittering, i stuck with the basics; coarse glitter and florentine gold glitter. do you have a favorite? i am totally glittering more in 2011. it may even be going on my resolutions list. am excited. glitter galore available at michaels, but you probably already knew that.

i give you naptime holiday craft #1: glitter star ornaments

currently playing in my house: Mele Kalikimaka / Bette Midler

So pretty! What kind of glue did you use? Inquiring minds. . .

another nosey nelly wanting to know what kind of glue! ;)

I had the same question a what is the best glue to use for it to stick?

thank you for the inquiries! the white glitter glue by Martha Stewart from Michael's works great. it comes with a brush inside too. so simple.

however i assume most glues could work well. it reminds me of the white glue i use for bookbinding. if you have some of that on hand, go big!

I don't know Bette Midler's version of Mele Kalikimaka, but I LOVE Bing Crosby's!

I'm also a big fan of glitter.

I JUST bought the rainbow box of MS glitter last week at Michaels with the 50% off coupon from her craft blog.

There is so much glittering in my future too!

See her treatment of ball ornaments.

I love glitter, too. I have 40 (yes 40...) Martha stewart glitter colors. Thats what I get for working in the industry, I suppose. I'm terrified of messes, though, so I seldom get them out.

Your stars are beautiful. I love it!!

Now you understand why I ALMOST glittered my olive wood nativity. Glitter is an addiction and I'm glad I didn't go too far. I love your stars. I'm ready to glitter everything in my house that isn't nailed down.

Marta, I have been considering whether to jump on the glitter wagon, your project has made me consider it more seriously:-) Thanks for sharing!

Ahhh so pretty! I'm in a glittery state of mind this year too - I can't stop the madness!! Love how the glitter twinkles with Christmas lights.

I confess: I fear the glitter. I love it, but I fear it.

Ooooh la la! This is making me want to try glitter! :) I'm terrified of glitter, and thus, missed the glitter boat too! I'm scared of it just like I'm scared of my 3 year old coming back in the house after playing in his wet-sandy sandbox and not getting cleaned off - putting sand everywhere, lol :) But I might just have to try this now - I have a 50% off Michael's coupon- yippee!! :)

OOOooo! I played with glitter today too! So fun! Seriously I had the same thought...why have I not played with glitter before?!

My house is now bathed in it. I even put glitter on my fabric candy canes!

Can I add another ! for good measure?!

Love the stars, I need to make one for the tip of the tree :)

Love the way glitter looks, but hate the way it lingers (all. over. everything.)...

I've been thinking about playing with Martha's flocking and tinsel -- if you do, please make a post, I'd love to see the results!

Your ornaments are beautiful. I love that you call it a "naptime craft" :]

Love that you added in here that this was a 'naptime' activity - I used to be filled with fear getting the glitter out with the little ones I taught!
The results are gorgeous.

It's not Christmas until you've cracked open the glitter! x.

When I let my high school students glitter I would leave a $5 on a desk for the custodian cleaning my room to show him my appreciation and sympathy. But they just loved using it so it was worth it.

We love Bette here too. Chels now calls her Butt Midler. Clever. No matter what, it always gets a laugh.

Love glitter! I have a beautiful collection with about 25 different shades of superfine glitter.

Sadly, D HATES it with a passion and we have a complete glitter ban in effect. I got one exception for a very special party, with the caveat that I keep all glittered items in a single location, bag them as soon as they are finished and then vacuum thoroughly. He's so easy going about everything else that I have to comply.

Martha glitter is the best - especially the turquoise.

I love this - it inspired a link from my blog and then a trip to Micheal's, where I bought glitter for myself AND a 24 pack for every crafty lay on my list. Tis the season! Thanks for the idea!
