Free scavenger hunt + nature journal printable

We've never seen days like this. We are isolating our families due to the rate of Covid-19 raging through each nation. The news is rapidly revolving; a cycle of bad news turning worse and then deadly. It's hard to stay on top of the news, our work responsibilities, our kids' needs, our own health - mental and physical - and our list of obligations that once seemed so important. We are grinding to a halt and lifestyles are changing without notice. My expectations of being an ideal homeschool teacher in this climate of uneasiness and stress have lowered significantly over the past week. However I've already seen so much good rise to the top of this pandemic. Good people everywhere putting in their two cents, doing what they can or, in some cases, putting in their ALL, with their abilities and talents to help others. I've been pondering what I can do, I'm starting very small with this idea. We are in this together.

Since we are all social distancing, I thought I'd recreate some of my printable designs from the past and offer them to you for free. Keeping our kids entertained and semi-educated while school is cancelled is a full-time job. I hope you're inspired to create a family fort, campout indoors or send some scavenger hunt printables door to door to show some love to a friend. Simply click on the image to print!

a very merry printable christmas poster + giveaway

this giveaway's lucky winners are: alicia fish / ana sontag / miranda walker / becca groves

i wanted to offer you (and yours) a very merry, cheery design for your homes this holiday. i combined my favorite fonts and mingled them with my favorite christmastime lyrics and created this custom printable poster. it is now available in two sizes (and two formats) for immediate download. the cost for my original artwork is only $7.00. the two christmas designs vary slightly; they were created for ease in either print-shop poster printing (a pdf. file) or custom canvas uploads (a png. file).

leave a comment below, tell me your favorite holiday tradition, and you'll be entered to win a free printable download (or a refund if you are in a hurry to purchase and print). you can enter one more comment if you pin or tweet about it too. thanks! winner will be chosen at random and contacted by december 5th.

click here to purchase the 11"x17" printable poster pdf. file / $7.00
this is the perfect download to forward onto your local print shop, like fedex kinkos, for an inexpensive color print. make it wall worthy with a simple poster frame from michael's crafts (take a coupon!) to make a happy holiday statement to hang in your home.

+ click here to purchase the 11"x14"printable png. file / $7.00
this is the best download option if you'd like to create a lasting custom christmas canvas to use year after year. simply upload the png. file to any custom canvas website. psst.. if you order from easy canvas prints, they are having a huge 60% off sale until tomorrow. just a tip: when you start customizing your canvas, click the custom size button and manually enter 14 x 11 so the canvas is portrait format rather than horizontal format.

please respect marta dansie design, llc. copyright and use these downloads only for yourself and gift-giving, no mass producing (we all know plagiarism is the worst and creates major bad karma). thank you for supporting handmade for the holidays!

thanksgiving snack mix / dollar download

due to your kind requests, i've re-listed the thanksgiving snack mix printable again this year. this dollar download features the designs pictured; a two-page pdf. file including a 4-up easy to print snack mix label sheet and a second sheet with a dozen i am thankful turkeys to easily print out on label stickers or cardstock. they are designed especially for punching out into festive garlands or making gift tags. click the button below to purchase. thank you and enjoy!

THANKSGIVING SNACK MIX RECIPE
Bugles brand chips (2 bags is plenty)
• classic knot mini pretzels
• candy corn
• corn nuts
• dried fruit (i like craisins)
• sunflower seeds

gather your supplies and buy equal amounts of the ingredients. i was delighted to find all of them, except for the Bugles, in the bulk foods aisle. yay, bulk foods does it again! combine the snack mix in a giant bowl–adding more and stirring as you go–whistling (and tasting) while you work.

for party favors or hostess gifts, scoop your snack mix into cellophane bags and tie with baker’s twine or ribbon. be sure to add a description label of your snack mix too, every morsel included represents a special thanksgiving memory.

january dollar downloads debut early.

one of my creative goals is to dream up cute and useful designs to feature as dollar downloads every month throughout the new year. it will be nice for me to put my crafty thinking cap on. hopefully they will be items you'll enjoy too.

writing thank you notes for holiday parties and unexpected gifts is on my to-conquer list this week. i thought a check-the-box format would be more fun than something formal. simply download, print and customize it with your own cursive and thoughtful answers. (a perfect way to use up the rest of your postage stamps!) this download design has four cards per sheet; they will print and cut nicely into an A2 envelope. dolling them up with leftover ribbons is optional.

since i'm offering a january calendar page, i wanted to submit it early so you can get rolling with making january plans. i adore pretty glossy calendars–and this scratchpad version in no way can compete with those–however i prefer having an extra, loose calendar to jot dates and scribble on. i hang them on my bulletin board and save them all in a folder. at the end of the year, after reviewing all twelve pages, i can make a quick re-cap list of what we did that year.

check-the-box thank you notes

on a tangent.
in spite of my giddiness for pulling out a roll of tiffany blue snowflake wrapping paper this weekend, i am still very much looking forward to thanksgiving and all the festivities, downtime, and eating that goes along with it.

i am not one to say that getting pumped for christmas means i'm doing thanksgiving a disservice. no way. i am feeling in the spirit of things for all the holidays from here on out. even the ones i don't take part in celebrating, i'm just happy about this time of year. there is this bubbling buzz happening, i love it. i even did some wrapping and movie watching. i love wrapping gifts early enough so that even i am a little surprised when they are opened.

saturday i got out and about and crossed a few big things off my list. this is totally not-typically me. there i was, at toys-r-us browsing the aisles, wondering what santa might bring. i avoid that store like the plague all year long but it felt almost merry-like seeing all the shoppers, their loot, and frenzy of coupons clipped together. i saw four women with heaping carts discussing what typical six year olds like and then, after agreeing, loading up on buzz lightyears and cupcake makers. they were obviously donating the toys and it made me smile. i scored the last set of play pots and pans, in red. which also made me smile. even though they are mini sized, they look nicer than the real set in my kitchen.

i also met a blog pal at target. (thank you for saying hello, lauren.) yay for bumping into bloggers in real life! and hip hip for plastic produce in the dollar aisle. i fell back into childhood eyeing the plastic lemons, hot dogs, bunches of purple grapes and tiny boxes of make-believe cereal. i'm seriously excited about filling up his stocking with this stuff!

happy snack-making and holiday prepping.

coming up...
• i have a big deadline soon, wish me luck (and lots of productivity).
•  a giveaway from the mini mart shop.
• a thanksgiving storybook and favorite advent tradition.
• another informative & fun how-to post goes live tomorrow.
• more holiday inspiration from my christmas binder.
• your thankful thoughts featured right here with project: thankful.

octoberfest friday.

happy october! i am excited about the newness of october. i finished up a huge project yesterday (yay, i barely met the deadline!), finally upgraded my software to Adobe CS5 (hooray! although i must warn you, never upgrade your whole life while in the midst of a giant project. silly me. i am the queen of taking the long road.) anyway i have some big plans for crafting up a storm in the next few weeks. not to mention, some serious family togetherness this weekend.

we have been milking all this lovely weather. i literally watched leaves tumble from the trees at the park yesterday while the warm summer-like sun was beating down on me. on the way to the car, b picked up a few yellow leaves to take home. talk about best of both worlds. am counting my lucky stars for every park day we get.

after reviewing the reader requests from my blog poll last week (thanks for voting), i realize the majority of you would prefer a lot more DIY Downloads from me. which i think is mighty cool and will force me to get my craft on. so i've come up with a plan to please. i will be offering an original download design each month for an itty bitty price.

the october download is a pdf. file for halloween gift tags for only two dollars! they are set up to print twelve tags on a classic, letter sized paper. of course, you'll be able to print out as many as you'll need and save the file for future use! these tags have been a bestseller in years past, so i thought it would be fun to feature them as a do-it-yourself download. simply print them out on cardstock and cut into gift tags (circles or squares or even pumpkin shapes) and tie to party favors or spooky surprises. see for yourself what stephmodo crafted up with my scalloped halloween tags for her adults only halloween party. such a swanky affair!

please note, the monthly downloads will only be available via my blog, not in my shop. click the link below or the image on my sidebar to purchase the download. once payment is made, an email will deliver a direct link for you to download my design. happy haunting.

a few more festive features for friday...
• thanks to hannah at sherbet blossom for including me in her may i suggest series. i'll be putting my two cents in every friday in october, suggesting tried and true things i can't get enough of.
dressing on the side is having a huge buy one get another free sale, today only. i love their tees.

• and another thank you to kim at LDW magazine for featuring my home office and craft station.
• if you're a harry potter fan, you'll want to tune in to oprah today. she's interviewing j.k. rowling!
• happy friday. next week i'll give you a sneak peek at crafts for our upcoming boutique.

ideas abounding, advice please

this one is jam packed. i hope you'll read carefully and give me much needed advice.
thank you, internets.

i am creating a new binder for my collection dedicated to blogging. i've previously mentioned that i have a binder for my online shop, the mini mart, but now i'm getting serious and making a binder for blogging & business. why haven't i thought of this before? i am embracing the fact that i am a blogger. hello. am going to save tips, advice and more. i even made a section for growing ideas and future plans which will hopefully become a greenhouse of good ideas to share with you. for work, i've read a lot about marketing, working from home, creating business identity designs and such, all of which can all be poured into blogland. not that this is new to anyone reading this, but blogging (among other befriending online resources) is the new campaign to get the word out. which is exactly why i devote some of m.writes to the art of giveawaying.

i think blogging has power. i've been thinking about this a lot and i'd love to continue the discussion and blog about blogging. so many of you went to the ALT convention and have a lot to add to this subject. perhaps i can give my humble pie advice about running an online shop, filling orders, blogging and creating a life full of what you're passionate about. am flirting with the idea of posting a weeklong for the love of blog & business workshop right here sometime in the coming months. what do you think? anyone interested in something like this? i'd love to know what you'd like to learn/discuss. feel free to email me your suggestions! topics such as: why i love to blog, comments can be your friend, setting up a workspace, my love/hate relationship with google reader, how to market an etsy shop, and more.. have been twirling in my head.

my advice to small business owners post might get you excited. i hope so.

and of course i always keep a list.
a fresh list is going in my binder right now.

to-do list printable

click, save + print.

you asked for it. here's a project to-do list printable to print again and again in two thousand ten. am currently filling mine up with freelance projects. hooray for opportunities to work.

happy weekend everyone. make it a good one. perhaps this list will come in handy for designating saturday chores. in this house, we'll be having benji's buddy over to play, making trips to the storage garage, vacuuming out the car, baking something delisch, gathering valentiney paper, watching sleepless in seattle on tv and going to zumba class (my attempt to break out of the box). and pointing to our noses, benji's newest trick. oh and i want to write something worth reading. it's at the very end of my list because i am avoiding it like the plague.

up next week: the chocolate toffee trifle recipe, my resolution list, and then some.

i have high hopes for today. i got a new haircut for the new year (it looks exactly the same to the untrained eye). i have a list of all the areas i want to organize. i also have a growing list of topics to blog about and projects to start. i shipped some mini diaries (i have eighteen still in stock, if you'd like one). and i have made a dent in project clean up. the unpacking, the laundry, taking down the christmas decor and my thank you note list are all halfway there. which means my house is in shambles. i did however manage to continue one of my resolutions to eat a hearty breakfast. i read that eggs are an excellent breakfast; providing stamina throughout the day and warding off hunger. today i made spinach quiche and threw in broccoli and red pepper bits too. i divided the mixture into little ramekins for individual happy meals. hip hip. i think i'm really ready now; let the month officially begin.

p.s. am starting a new category: printables. am hoping to create printable downloads galore this year for your convenience and creativity. if you have an idea, please email me.
